Labor/birth and illness.

Postby elvixen » Mon Oct 03, 2016 8:24 pm

I'm currently 40+2 weeks pregnant, at least 2-3cm dilated, and expecting labor to start any time now.....
Unfortunately I just caught my older kids' gastro bug and I'm MISERABLE. vomiting and achy!
I've also had a bronchitis/chest infection for about 2 months (viral so won't respond to antibiotics) which means i'm coughing all the time and suffering with rib pain from the ongoing exertion of coughing.

My question: Anyone ever gone into labor while sick with something similar?
Was it a nightmare or did you get through it OK? I'm so tired right now and i don't know how i'm going to cope with everything at once.

Both of my pregnancies ended with me being sick for a month or more. I was miraculously recovered within days of birth. It's like my body couldn't heal itself until baby was out. I know you'll feel better quickly after delivery. Your body needs a break! Best of luck.

Just saw this was a post from a month ago. How did your labor/delivery go?

Hey smouse, thanks for your response. I literally went into labour after I posted this thread lol. My labour was surprisingly not bad despite my being unwell. Only 6 hours in total, natural & unmedicated bar a shot of antiemetic to help with the nausea! I was exhausted but my body somehow just got on with it :) and i was only pushing for 5-10 minutes. Our bodies are so resilient!
