Crib - Stationary or Drop Side?

Postby imdesired » Mon Jan 26, 2009 8:44 am

Which one do you have?

The crib I purchased on sale is stationary!! ack!! Pretty sure it's going back!
I think I might be using DD's old natural crib - it's a wonderful crib with a drop side! I don't think I'd like not having a drop side!

Does yours have one?

i like the option of having the drop side, but you cant get a 3in1 or 4in1 with a drop side. that is the only reason i got a stationary

^ahhhh... Good to know! lol
That's why mine isn't? It's a 4in1. I just really freaked out last night! Not having this option.. Is it going to suck?
I'm very tall, don't know if this makes a diff.

I have stationary but you can adjust the mattress height, so it is up higher when the baby is little.

actually, i think being taller you have an advantage. i didnt read my crib reviews til after i bought it (smart i know) and there were a few that said that itd be good for a taller person because the mattress is so deep so its harder to bend that far over. im 5'4 so i hope thats tall enough. or esle i will be getting a step stool! lol!

I got a stationary. I also wanted the option of the 4 in 1 crib, plus for some reason the stationary just seems more sturdy to me?? I don't know how true that is, I've never had another crib. But it seems like whenever there are recalls on cribs, it's due to some problem with the drop-side.

I'm 5'2 and I was originally concerned, but the crib has different levels for the mattress and it goes up plenty high enough for me to reach with no problem. And when the baby gets old enough that we have to move the mattress down, he'll be old enough to stand up so I can pick him up anyway.

the crib my son is in now is stationary but the mattress height is adjustable which is fine. I never had problems. I do now because of the belly but that is temporary.. haha.

We are also getting a stationary crib for our little girl.

I had a drop side with my DS and have bought another drop side for my DD. I'm short (5'2") so I read that stationary cribs can be a bit too high for some. I tried out some stationary ones in the store that were on the highest mattress level and found that it might be a little too high for me. That's why I opted for another drop side (even though I wanted a stationary sooo bad :( )

My is a drop side AND a 4-1! It's the DaVinci Anastasia. Honestly I didn't care about the drop side when I picked the crib, I guess I just lucked out.

Mine is also a 4 in 1, and is a drop side, so I know they make them. I have the Graco Sarah in Hickory.

I wonder if she worked on commission. Either way she shouldn't work there if she doesn't know her stuff. That sucks.

Well geez!! I don't know what to do now!!

I mean, on one hand, it's sort of nice, because I remember saying "Did I put up the side of the crib" many times before... This you'll never have to forget!

But when they're itty bitty it's SO NICE to have that drop down!!

Ohhh man.. Why can't these things be easy? I'm just being torn with all these different things I Have to buy and change my MIND!!!!
