The other thing is our partial breathable bumper on the dropside catches on the mattress. Then when we bring the side up the bumper is all squished up leaving a 4" gap..which defeats the purpose, lol.

That is very true - I remember this with the drop side! I just liked using it when they're newborn, but really if we're talking a month or two - what is the point?
Maybe I'll just keep my stationary crib!
:D
Thanks!

Yes, the crib has 4 mattress levels. So I think it'll be ok. I am having a c-section, but I doubt the baby OR me will be making it upstairs the first week or so anwyay. And even after that DH is taking a lot of time off, so he can do it.

Here's the one I got:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... id=8466715

It's got the two position mattress and dropside and everything. It's really an awesome crib. I was pretty hesitant to buy a crib from Wal-Mart because I generally don't like the quality of their furniture....but after one of the other April mommies bought this same crib in white and gave such a great review of it, I went with it.

It was easy to put together and it's VERY sturdy. Everyone that's seen it has been amazed that I got it at Wal-Mart and that it was so inexpensive. I highly recommend it!
