Is this a tribute to Star Wars? That's what I think of when I hear the name...

I think a lot of people would actually assume this but nope neither of us is in to star wars at all. We just like the name. It doesn`t bother me that people might assume that though. Thanks for commenting - I`d REALLY appreciate some more feedback good or bad (better now then if my kid has a name that everyone doesn`t like, right?

It's not my cup of tea, but mostly because I would immediately (and assume most other people would too) think of Star Wars.

I like the 'sound' of the name, but not that it's so closely related to Star Wars, if that makes sense.... but, in saying that I have a friend who has a little boy called Jedi... 8O

Molly that is toooo funny with the Jedi and dannibee thank you so much for your opinion (my mom also said it was too girly). Although my hubby and I both don't like Star Wars and coincidently happen to both love the name it doesn't seem like we can go with it bc other people just don't seem to like it and I don't want to do that to my little one. It MUST be because we don't have any association to Star Wars or something??

I REALLY appreaciate the feedback - I really did/do want honesty!!

I think of star wars too... then i remember that Anakin turns into Darth Vader...

I voted I think it's ok. The only reason I don't "like it" is because "An" "Ana" or "Anny" would be nicknames and those sound like girl names.

I'd bet other kids would think it's cool.

I voted "Its fine but not for me".. because its just not my style. and when I first read it I thought of Anna... a friend of mine.. so I think personally think of it more as a girl name. I might worry about the "nicknames" thing.. but then again an engineer wher eI work is named Ambrose.. and no one ever comments on it..

I like the name but agree that the nickname will end up being Anny. Even in the Star wars movies as a kid he was called Anny. My daughter is named Melanie and we call her Mel, and I know a girl named Alex, and a little girl named Jo and they don't get teased, but with a boys it might be a bit different.
It does mean Warrior though so if the other little boys want to start something they better look out! :D

I must say, though I certainly think everyone has the right to choose whatever name they like... I don't think it sounds masculine enough. Like everyone else said the "Ana" prefix is feminine sounding.

That's just me though!
