Can a UTI cause vaginal spotting/bleeding?

Postby OctoberMama » Mon Mar 07, 2011 8:45 am

The spotting started around 7 weeks and my OB gave me a sonogram and everything was fine. The spotting continued, so I was seen again at 9 weeks and I had a pelvic exam and was told that everything looked ok. I am now 10 weeks and still spotting. I see it mostly when I wipe. It goes from dark brown, to dark red, to bright red, and then starts the pattern all over again. And now I'm having some cramping. DH convinced me to take one of those at home UTI tests that they sell at the drugstore and it came up very positive. I called my OB and they said to come in at 3:30. So my question is, can a UTI cause bleeding/spotting? TIA!

Here is a pic of my tests results

I don't think it would considering your vagina and your urinary tract are 2 different things but you never know.
