Measuring behind

Postby PamJamieandBaby » Wed Mar 09, 2011 6:21 pm

Anyone measure behind at your u/s and still turn out OK?

I just had my 8wk u/s. We saw the hb was 127 but the baby was only measuring 7 wks. The dr said it was OK because they allow a 1 wk leeway and are happy if the hb is between 120 and 150, but I just have a bad feeling.

Help! :(

Thats exactly what they told me, that they dont worry at this stage because they one week either way is very normal.

I was actually measuring 8w4d when I was 8w1d and my dr. said he'll go by my own ovulating charting on due date instead of the u/s. He said that that early in the game the u/s can be off by a week either way.
When I want back a couple weeks later (I go every other week because I'm high risk) My LO was actually measuring a day or two behind, but again my Dr. said it was perfect because they have to expect it to be off some, either way.
Try not to worry about it, easier said then done I know, but I think your LO will be just fine.

I agree with PP... the ultrasounds are so blurry, it's hard to get an exact measurement. And since they're measuring in millimeters, a tiny difference in size can translate to a up to a week's difference in age. At my first U/S, my baby measured 2 days behind, which moved my due date back 2 days. (I charted my temps, so I know exactly when I ovulated.) Then my second U/S showed baby measuring 5 days ahead of the new due date they gave me. Then at my anatomy scan, they said she was measuring perfectly. So it's a little different every time, just depends on how clear of a picture they are able to get I think.

I would not worry especially if you O late. They tend to base everything on the assumption that everyone has a 28 day cycles and O on Day 14. If doctor said not to worry, I wouldn't, most doctors do not sugar coat things.

did they say you have a tilted uterus? I'm measuring 2 weeks behind where I think I am and read it is extremely common to measure behind if you have a tilted uterus b/c the equipment can't visualize the baby as well. I'm sure everything will be ok!
