I take the Equate equivalent to One A Day Women's Prenatal. Same exact thing but lots cheaper. It comes in a box with 2 bottles. One is a prenatal multivitamin and the other is a DHA softgel supplement.

I agree with the PP about folic acid vs folate. My vitamin has 800mcg of folic acid but I eat a lot of greens, salads and spinach so I use my multi as a backup with my diet as a means of intaking the essential nutrients.
I probably don't need the DHA softgel as I eat fish twice a week and eat severals eggs that have omega 3's in them but again it's nice to have a backup.

I recommend health food store quality multivitamins. All vitamins are not created equal. I have had really good success with Chicago Nutrition Company Foundation Prenatal. It doesn't constipate me or upset my stomach like other vitamins. My hair and fingernails grow faster too. It also corrected my blood sugar. My sister in law was severely anemic during her last pregnancy and I bought her a bottle of the Foundation Prenatal; within a week she was feeling better. I think health food vitamins make a big difference. I heard on the news that most generic brands are made from petrochemicals.
Finally, I think it is smart to take a purified fish oil. The Chicago Nutrition Company Focus-3 DHA Supreme helps me remember and I never ever burp it up. It is molecularly distilled to remove mercury, lead, and cadmium other toxins too. I hope this helps.

I got prescription for vitafol one so I just started them a week ago.
they are expensive though, about $80 bucks a month :?
I should have them fully covered by insurance though, otherwise I probably will opt for something less expensive next month...

I've been taking Nature Made Prenatal with DHA. I took them to my OB appointment at 6 weeks and my OB said they were just fine. I would say if you have concerns, definitely talk to your OB/midwife and see what they suggest! Good luck!

I take New Chapter prenatal, plus a DHA supplement. It's a whole-food vitamin, so it doesn't make me sick :)

Im Vit D deficient so I have to make sure to get extra every day. The best part is my vit D gummy, its soo tasty! I always drink them all then finish it all with this tasty chewy gummy.

I'm taking Stuart One Prenatal. I ordered it online through Walgreens.com. Its a little pricey but not too bad. I wanted a decent prenatal that wouldn't make me more sick and so far this one is working out great. I was taking the One-A-Day prenatal before I got pregnant but once I was pregnant I was getting really sick whenever I took it so I started reading online reviews for various prenatals and looking at the ingredients for each one and this one was the best fit for what I wanted in a prenatal. I was getting really sick in the afternoon and I'd take the prenatal and it would make me feel better. I switched to taking it in the morning and now I actually have significantly less intense nausea in the afternoon.

There are several micronutrients you should have in your prenatal vitamin, including folic acid, calcium, iodine, vitamin D, and iron. Also remember that you should start taking your prenatal 30 days before trying to conceive and continue taking while breastfeeding. Check out StilettoMD.com for more info on what nutrients and at what quantities should be in your prenatal.
