Beta and progesterone at 4 weeks

Postby Storytime » Wed Oct 29, 2014 12:42 pm

My beta at about 4 weeks was 202 but my progesterone was 0.5. This is super scary. I hope he calls to tell me he's putting me on progesterone. Weird thing is... I had what appeared to be a period for about 4 days, 8 days ago. I just happened to take a preg test as a fluke yesterday to find out I am pregnant. He'll probably retest my beta Friday to see if it's gone up or down.

You probably spotted because of the low progesterone; I did. Good luck!!! Be sure to request the suppositories and not the pills: the suppositories are way more of a hassle but way more effective.

I know this is old, but storytime, I was wondering what happened with your pregnancy?? I am in a similar situation.

I miscarried. Apparently, when your progesterone is that low it usually means their is something wrong and the pregnancy isn't viable. Good luck!

I'm so sorry. I've been there before and am sad that I am here again.

I know when I heard 1. something that I completely blanked and didn't even hear the second number. I really appreciate your reply. We've been trying for over two years and this will be our third loss. I am of course praying for a miracle, but prepared for the worst. I just can't believe this is happening again.

Did your HCG continue to go up? Also, when did you end up MC? If I am going to MC I'd obviously rather it be sooner or later, so I can get the ball rolling once again. This is almost exactly a year from my last MC, so I am really hoping that I get pregnant quickly like some ladies do.

If you aren't pregnant again, I hope you get pregnant this current cycle. Thank you again for replying, it's so nice to hear someone reply in similar shoes.

Hi again! Thanks for the well wishes. We've been trying just about as long as you. We've only gotten pregnant that one time. When I detected the positive my doc ordered betas and numbers went up for a couple of draws but I started spotting after my first draw so I thought something was wrong. I spotted for about 6 days, never really had a heavy flow. I started my period about 1.5 weeks later. I am very thankful I didn't have a horrible miscarriage as I've heard some people go through labor like symptoms and bleed for weeks.
When did you get your positive? How are your betas? You progesterone is 1? Are you spotting at all?
I wish you the very best. Are you going to a specialist at all? We started going to one last cycle. He put me on femarA and did a huge work up on us. He thinks there is nothing wrong with either one of us and since I've been pregnant before that we should have no problem getting pregnant again. I sure hope so!!

None of my previous miscarriages have been bad and they've always happened naturally. Of course they have always been early.

The hubby and I have only done a few cycles of treatment at the fertility specialist. All tests came back fine, so we are diagnosed unexplained, too. However, after many ultrasounds, we've noticed that my lining has been thin on some of them, so we think that may be an issue.

I am a teacher, so it is really hard with all of the appointments and my principal doesn't quite understand. We didn't do any treatments for the past few months because I didn't want to ask my principal for more time off, so this was the first one this summer. I wanted to try to get in at least one more cycle before going back to school and that may not happen depending on how long this sweet babe is going to hold on. Of course I would love a miracle, but I am just preparing myself for the worst.

I've done two straight femara cycles (first without IUI, second with), then a combo cycle of femara and injections w/IUI, and this time we just did straight follistim. My body responded awesome and my lining was the best it had ever been at 10.7. It was amazing! So we opted out of the IUI and just did TI and wound up pregnant. If we need to do another cycle, we will be doing the same thing, Follistim, with TI. My gut tells me my lining is the issue, so I figure if that can be fixed we should have just as good of a chance as anyone else.

So I got my BFP and bled for a day and a half (not spotting, but not heavy). That draw my HCG was at 14.5 and progesterone was .572. The next draw two days later was 30 (they were surprised bc the bleeding) and the next was 50.1 and progesterone was 1. something, so we thought I was going to MC. Then, four days later we did another HCG draw and it went to 298, so more than doubled. This is when my specialist put me on progesterone. He said it is most likely nonviable, but in case it is viable the progesterone is a good idea. Everything I read says it's impossible to sustain a pregnancy of 5 or below. He said at this point the progesterone won't prevent me from having a MC if that's going to happen anyways.

I'm really just surprised that I am still pregnant, but I am thinking that my numbers will be down at the next beta (Monday) bc I've had some spotting. However, I've also seen lots about progesterone causing you to spot.

How were your results with Femara?? Good lining and follicle sizes?! I hope it works for you guys!!! :)

The highest my beta got was around 400. My lining on femara was great and had three big follicles so hoping we'll have a positive soon. Keep me updated!

Oh yay!! Those are great results on Femara. I'll pray you get a BFP soon. I will keep you updated on my betas on Monday.

Hi Storytime! Just wanted to give an update because I said that I would. My HCG went from 298 to 543 in four days, so it should have been to 1200. My progesterone is also still very low and this has pretty much confirmed that this pregnancy is not viable.

I have an ultrasound on Thursday to see if the baby is in my uterus or ectopic. I am praying to God the baby is not in my tubes. I want to miscarry naturally ASAP and move on to my rainbow baby.

God bless you and I hope this cycle is it for you!!!
