CD 9 - found out I'm pregnant today!

Postby Miss406 » Mon Feb 09, 2015 8:47 am

Confusing story really, not sure where to begin either.
I miscarried 6th January 2015, and then was tracking my cycle. I ovulated, temperatures were slightly erratic. Tested for pregnancy all negative, then ''AF'' showed up. Lasted 5-6 days, heavy flow as per normal.

11am today, CD9 (or 19dpo) and I had ovulation type pains, I thought no, can't be - not this early into the cycle.
I did a CB dual hormone digital OPK - O - negative but the lines were positive, very much so. I thought, well if this isn't positive for ovulation, what is it positive for? I did an IC OPK and again, positive within seconds.
I then did a IC HPT, within seconds the second line came up I thought it was having a laugh so I used a FRER - positive. Ran to the pharmacy and got a Cb digital 'Pregnant 1-2' well that confirmed it.

Deep in shock I've done at least 10 more pregnancy tests - all positive.

SO, here I am. Carrying what I hope is my rainbow baby. :)

Hi Ladies,
Yesterdays beta had fallen to just 24. Miscarriage is now imminent. My eighth miscarriage. Doctors don't care I've had so many miscarriages before apparently 'when my body gets it right, it carries to term' and apparently '8 miscarriages is normal'.

I've tested this evening and tests are negative. I was told to test again in 2 weeks and if it was positive to get investigated. Just waiting for the bleeding to start now.
We've lost out rainbow baby and I am devastated. Last night when we found out I blamed my Fiance and he blamed me. We've been quite literally tearing strips off each other. We both kissed and made up, said sorry and are now supporting each other.
Not the news you'd expect on St Valentines Day.

Any idea when I will start bleeding? Will I see anything that represents a baby?

I am soo sorry to hear this. Have you had any testing done? Have you seen any fertility specialist? Your body can get pregnant is just maintaining the pregnancy is what its having trouble with. I know some girls on here who are put on medication, to stabilize their progesterone, or whatever their body might be lacking. I think being that its your 8th miscarriage, im going to be honest, it seems negligent of your Dr to think this is normal. I think you should see a specialist or get a second opinion. There is something just not making sense.

When you will start bleeding I am not sure. I have no experience with MC, and everyone is soo different. You would be about 3-4 weeks gestational, I do not believe you will see anything that looks like a baby. You most likely will feel some strong cramping, and heavy bleeding. You will pass tissue, or lining, I think an embryo starts looking like a baby until almost after 9 weeks. Anything before 5 or 6 weeks you are seeing the beginnings of a gestational sac, and yolk sac and perhaps a fetal pole, meaning the embryo is not even visible or not even formed.

I hope you find the strength to cope with this along with your fiancé. It's not an easy situation to be in, and to place blame on either of you is not helpful nor healthy.

I am sorry again hun, and wish you the best of luck in whatever steps you find fit to take next.

Thank you, we are both just hurting so much. On Friday I used a FRER in the evening with no hold and my Fiance said it was a strong positive but I knew it wasn't any darker than Mondays - that's a bad sign. I half knew this was going to happen but it's still devastating all the same.
Just wondering if a rather large clot will be my baby, sounds stupid but I've forgotten what I passed with my other miscarriages, my minds gone blank and my body feels numb.
Still in shock I think, a week ago I found out and now I know this, it's awful. Worst heartbreak ever.

mc that early is devastating. I know how you feel. It happened last month for me and is the reason if even the slightest bump happens im testing the next morning to make sure that line is dark. Its okay to be hurt and sad. After I showed negative on the pg tests, 2 days later I would bleed. So go ahead, be sad but don't blame anyone. It is no ones fault. The body has a wonderful way of cleansing itself when it feels the baby not growing. It's nothing you did, or your husband or your actions. All it means is the baby was not growing or maturing correctly and instead of it sitting there, your body will cleanse itself to try again! I do think you should see a fertility doctor if its your 8th. Theres all sorts of things that can help your body prepare and give the new conceived egg the best shot! If anything it will help relieve the stress of seeing a BFP and worrying if its going to stick. Dont worry girl, many have gone through this and we all know how you feel so reach out for support! The worst thing to do is bottle it up and hide.

Still not pregnant, had another loss last month. First cycle on Soya, hoping for a miracle to be honest. I still remember writing this message, I was so so happy to announce it. :(

I am so sorry to hear about all your losses, Miss :(

I don't know where you are, but if it's at all possible for you I HIGHLY recommend talking with another doctor or even a fertility specialist. 8 miscarriages is not normal, and if your doctors are telling you that, you should go elsewhere. It could be anything, from low progesterone to sperm with poor morphology to chromosome issues. Half of all fertility problems come from women, the other half come from men. You both deserve answers and the chance to correct things.

I attended the Recurrent MC Clinic in October after having my 9th Loss last July.
The Doctor said 99% of the time the tests come back negative for everything and it's just bad luck.

Most of my tests came back normal, HOWEVER, the blood clotting Lupas Anticoagulant test came back ABNORMAL.

I feel like I have closure.

The test had to be repeated to confirm, but I am not pregnant (with a sticky bean) and apparently when you're pregnant this test *always* comes back + and her 'feeling' is that the test would be normal.

So, after the pregnancy I will be tested again, not that it will make any difference, this will be my last pregnancy. I am due only days before the 8th Angel "Jake" was going to be due.

Miss, I had the same experience with the Lupus anticoagulant test. You can do some research on it if you want to. Here's what it is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilute_Ru ... venom_time

I was tested just after my last MC and got a positive result, then tested 4 weeks later and it was negative. I am now seeing a high risk specialist that explained it can be affected by the recent pregnancy but in all honesty the test is complicated so it is inconsistently performed by lab techs and not very reliable. He said he disregards the results unless you get three positive tests over 12 weeks.

I also had an HSG that revealed some abnormality in the shape of my uterus that could be the cause of my MCs. In the meantime I was put on low dose aspirin just in case there is an undiagnosed clotting disorder and progesterone suppositories because there is some evidence of benefit with little to no risk.

If you haven't had your progesterone levels tracked during any of your pregnancies, that is probably an important step to see if you have naturally low levels. Unfortunately, you won't be able to test this until you become pregnant again. It is uncommon but an indicator of this problem is short luteal phase (<10 days) during nonpregnancy cycles. During early pregnancy, too-low progesterone can cause you to start to lose your uterine lining even if there's a good, implanted egg, resulting in bleeding and MC. Suppositories or injections help prop up your levels until the placenta takes over in the second trimester.

Depending on your age, random chromosomal errors cause roughly half of early MCs. Since you have had so many, the odds are very tiny this is the cause of all your losses, but it's (cruelly) possible. Saving and testing the products of conception (everything that you pass during a MC) can tell you if that loss is caused by that reason. This is usually covered by insurance in the US after the 3rd loss.

An HSG could give you answers if your uterus has a physical problem, like a septum, that is preventing correct implantation and growth of the embryo. The high risk doc said this is the case in roughly 20% of recurring loss not otherwise explained. If they find something, they can possibly correct it with surgery. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hysterosalpingography This is usually covered in the US after the 3rd loss.

A balanced translocation is the cause of roughly 4% of recurring loss not explained by something else. It is a chromosomal problem in the parent that may not have any symptoms, but is usually deadly if passed as an unbalanced translocation to the baby, which would be 50% of the time if it exists, so the answer is IVF where they only implant the chromosomally normal embryos. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromosomal_translocation This testing is expensive and may or may not be covered by insurance if you live in the US.

The point of what I'm saying is that there are more things than can (and probably should) be done. Eight losses is not normal and statistically extremely unlikely if you have no underlying medical conditions. Do not put all your faith in the Lupus anticoagulant test and push for more concrete answers. Switch doctors again if you have to until you find one that is supportive emotionally and explains all your options to you. I hope with all my heart that you get your rainbow soon!

Thank you for your message Chorse.
I'm thankful I am not the only one to go through a LA positive test. In my earlier message it should have said 'now pregnant' not 'not pregnant'. I am currently 21 weeks (I've updated my ticker like finally).. I had the repeat test done in February and again, that was also positive. I was told that all pregnant results are positive - how true that is, I just don't know.

I'm sorry to learn of the shape of your uterus. Given all the pregnancies I've had (and miscarriages) only with this one have I found out I have a retroverted uterus, it may or may not have contributed to our Long Term TTC Journey.

I have had my progesterone tracked last March. It was <10 which was no where near high enough to sustain a pregnancy, but because my repeat beta had dropped they did not give me any progesterone, they didn't give Jake a chance.

I made sure it was checked with this pregnancy, and around 14DPO it was at level 66!

Since I have had two positive LA tests, I have found closure as to why I've miscarried so many times. I don't think I have any rare Chromosomal errors or abnormalities since I already have 6 very beautiful children, albeit one with a CHD.

In 2011 I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Nothing abnormal was picked up.

Thank you for your kind words, my Rainbow is due in October. :)
