I recently started taking zantac for obvious heartburn, but found out many people said it really helped with their morning sickness during the 1st trimester, so it might be worth a try!

I'm trying to wean off the antinausea meds but was having more nausea this evening. Took a zantac and it disappeared!

I find out next week. I'll try to remember to come back here and leave an update. So far, all the old wives tales and the Chinese gender chart point to a girl, but we'll see!

Kelbri, i had the worst morning sickness and im having a little girl, so the old wives tale was true for me! The only thing that helped a little for me was peppermints.

Hi all ! I am 8 weeks and having terrible morning, more like all-day, sickness. Throwing up for 3 days straight. Was having terrible insomnia for a few nights until I spoke to me doctor and he prescribed me zofran and then diclegis. I wanted the diclegic because it is FDA category A. I took the zofran first because that's all that I had and it worked great. I picked up the diclegis yesterday and took it last night before bed. I slept until 8am and had to force myself to get out of bed! This stuff knocks you OUT. On the bright side, though, I do feel so much better. Just groggy like I took benadryl and just woke up from a nap. I am going to try to take that just at night and a zofran during the day. Hopefully I can wean myself off of these meds asap as I really didn't want to take meds. However, the risk of dehydration was worse than any risk from the meds as far as my doc was concerned. I couldn't even keep water down.

Ascorbic acid (vit c) does help absorb iron. If you are taking prenatals and having a hard time with the iron, taking them with juice or eating them with fruit should help. Also, if you are able to eat foods with iron, try to have them with some citrus also. Like a spinach salad with lemon juice squeezed on top. Spinach has a lot of iron and the lemon will help you absorb it. Hope this helps!

Hope everyone feels better!!

Lynn, the diclegis should only knock you out for a couple of days, then your bosu will adjust and you should be able to function! It does take 3 or 4 days to build up and reach maximum effectiveness, though.

Don't feel guilty if you can't wean off of them as planned. I've tried several times and just landed myself in the ER. I have HG, though, so you may luck out and not need them after 12-14 weeks. I'll be on both meds until birth. It wasn't what I had planned, but they keep me from being sick all the time, and baby is healthy, so I'll keep taking them!

Hi Lynn, I'm right there with you. I would just add to be careful when to try to wean off. It took me about 3 days for the meds to kick in, then as I was feeling better I tried to reduce the dose, worst mistake. Was back to square one in just a couple of hours. Good luck. Hopefully it passes for us both real soon

Ginger ale and saltines were helping me get through it until I hit 10 weeks, then I went from nausea with gagging to full on projectile vomiting and I haven't found anything that helps yet. Luckily my morning sickness happens mostly at night. I hope it gets better for you soon.
