Colposcopy/Biopsy

Postby Blonde1982 » Mon Mar 16, 2015 6:48 am

Hi ladies, so i had my pap come back abnormal, which ive had once before, last year but this time im 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant. My Dr wants me to come in next week to get a colposcopy done and maybe biopsy. Im just really nervous i asked if it was safe and all the nurse said was that its recommended to get it done earlier then later in pregnancy. Ive also read of other ladies having this done during pregnancy as well and all seems to be fine. Am i over reacting?! Will me and baby be ok? I guess i should just listen to the Dr and hope for the best. Any feedback from other experiences will be helpful.

I didnt have one while pregnant but I did have a biopsy because they found bad cells. It was benign thankfully but it did hurt a bit. They said it was like a bad cramp but that did not feel like a bad cramp. It literally felt like I was being punched in the gut. Luckily its over pretty quick and they put this black stuff in you, and you leak black and a little blood. Make sure to eat or drink before you go in, I fainted afterward because I was very anxious and nervous lol. Honestly if its not near the baby I dont see how it would affect it so it shouldn't hurt the baby. Your stress levels will so don't worry to much :)

Yes they will. My appt is the 27th! I will let you know :) hopefully it's gone or Not there. I was told to have a child so I don't need a scrape so hopefully I don't have to do that biopsy again. I didn't like that at all lol. Keep me posted on you!

Sumia, Ok so here's my update: went my appointment yesterday, Dr did do a colpo and biopsy only as a precaution to know what we are dealing with, i wasnt to happy about it but she assured me it was ok to do and would not affect the baby at all. i didnt bled barely anything after or even today which is weird because i usually have some blood after i did my last one, im hoping she did a good job this time because im pregnant. Either way the results i should get soon, and even might break off during delivery.

Good luck at your appointment today keep me posted!

Hey! I was just about to update! It went amazing. Baby is fine. Dr did not seem to concerned about previous bad cells and did a paps on me anyway but otherwise everything looks great. So I wouldn't worry to much about it. She said having a baby clears out any cells anyeay

Thanks! hopefully i should find out by the end of the week. Other wise im ok so far, not feeling to pregnant these days so i guess i should take that as a good thing seeing so many other women have morning sickness, etc. Cant wait to hear the hearbeat at my appointment in a few weeks then i can finally breath! Thinking of doing the gender dna from the harmony test have you done that or even giving it as an option?

I know they are doing a genetics test but not sure on the harmony. My dr referred me to a specialist who is very accurate with gender at 14 weeks so that appt is on april 14th. haha. Im going to take it with a grain of salt till 20 weeks but it would be fun!

I guess if they are referring you to someone who can tell you earlier i doubt your doing the harmony test, that can only be done i think between 10- and 13 wks? My next appointment is April 21st ill be 12wks and 4 days. Maybe because im over 30 i am able to get it. They did do a genetic carrier screening at my first appointment too. My Finance needs to know, the sooner the better he said! ha

I am 28 so that could be! Have you m/c before or were on fertility treatments? I know they will do that if you have or are. I got pregnant 1 month before our year mark of trying so I never got to do any fertility treatments even though we thought we would have too lol. YAY!
