Bumpy pink rash on my arm and general itchiness?!

Postby Fairy Wings » Mon Mar 30, 2015 6:52 am

I'm 4 weeks, 2 days and this morning in the shower I noticed a rash on my right forearm. Its a bunch of tiny pink bumps and its very itchy. I don't see the rash anywhere else but I'm very itchy all over, especially on my legs and breasts! Is it most likely normal hormonal changes causing this? I do get hives from time to time due to seasonal allergies but the bumps are usually bigger and not just in a patch in one spot.

I don't know if this is the same thing, but this is what happens to me. I get it mostly on the inside of my arms but occasionally on part of my legs or my tummy. Mine started after I gave birth the first time. I thought it was an allergic reaction to something else until I got pregnant again and I took progesterone shots. I got a slightly different itchy rash and horrible headaches so I stopped taking them. After I had that baby the first rash returned again. I believe it is hormone related. When I got pregnant again with baby #3, I had it mildly off and on throughout the pregnancy and for 6 months after instead of a week or two like the others. I have pictures of mine if you want to compare. I have found something that helps with the itch. I put cold water on a paper towel then add some vinegar and rub it wherever the rash is. This calms it a lot and it usually doesn't bother me for at least a few hours. Also I think I read somewhere that pregnancy can make your skin a bit more dry in general. Try to drink a decent amount of water and it may help a bit. Best of luck to you and congrats on your little one!

There is a condition that some women get with pregnancy that causes ichiness. I just read about it. May be worth a google.

Do any of the pills your taking have niacin in them?

Tange,

My prenatal vitamin has niacin.

Most of the pregnancy related conditions associated with itchiness seem to be in later pregnancy. I think it might be allergies. They seem to get worse in pregnancy.

Niacin will make people itchy. If you aren't used to taking it, that may be whats causing it.

I took a free sample of some pre work out drink and a half hour later almost came out of my skin I was so itchy. I came back and read it had niacin in it and knew that's what it was. lol

Hopefully whatever it is its bearable.

That's good to know. I've always been prone to hives but they've definitely been worse since I started the prenatal. How do you even find a prenatal without Niacin? So far every one I've looked at has it in it. I'm having my husband pick up some Aveeno oatmeal bath to see if that helps at all.

If you take it with a baby asprin it may help. I don't think they put the non flushing kind in prenatals.

I used to have to take it when I was younger for high cholestoral. If I couldn't find the non flushing I was told to take it with a baby asprin.
