Pregnant after miscarriage. **update = loss

Postby pumpkinseed » Tue Apr 07, 2015 8:08 am

I'm happy to be back over here again after a miscarriage in January. Just extremely nervous. Was surprised to get pregnant our first ttc cycle after m/c.

Met with doctor, waiting to get blood work until 5 weeks as I feel it stresses me out more. So, I'll just be poas to see line progression!

I found out yesterday (10dpo). Wondfo super faint, frer faint positive. Today the frer is clearly darker and the wondfo is darker too, but barely. I thought wondfo were supposed to be super sensitive?

Anyway, my symptoms are pretty much nothing. No boob pain yet. When does that normally start? Also when do most of you get your first beta? I think I'll wait till end of 4 weeks. My confirmation visit / ultrasound is at 5.5 weeks.

Hoping this one sticks, as I'm on metanx (mthfr) and lovenox (blood thinners) to hopefully help the baby along.

Look forward to getting to know all of you!

Hi, pumpkinseed!

Congratulations on your rainbow!

I had a miscarriage in September and I'm now 9 week with our rainbow. It's exciting and scary...I am trying to focus more on the joy than the fears.

I had breast pain straight away (and still do), but everyone is different. I have my first round of blood tests this week and I am not looking forward to the needles. Ick.

Welcome back to this side :) Congrats! My boobs started hurting a few weeks after BFP. I didn't get betas - my doctor didn't ask for them, and I thought it would just stress me out more if I got them. My wondfos progressed slowly... I'd say they doubled in darkness every 3 days or so. Hey Pumpkin!

I only had boob pain from O for a week. The other morning I woke up feeling like my chest was sunburned but other than that nothing. In 2010 I had boob pain so bad you couldnt look at me. So maybe its still coming? Maybe ill be lucky.

But every time is different so just try to stay calm!

it seems boob pain is a major symptom but not for everyone, so thanks for your replies. From what some of you describe, doesn't sound like much fun! i remember the lightning bolt jolts last pregnancy but that didn't occur until 7 weeks and wasn't constant.

targaryen- congratson your pregnancy. so happy for u after a loss. i hope to get to 9 weeks and beyond!

care - what dpo did u get those drawn?

amlobo - thanks for posting your test progression, really helps to compare!

i can't wait for this month to be over already. i am trying my best not to stress...wish i could hibernate for 3 months

Hi pumpkin, I'm sorry about your miscarriage but Im glad you've gotten pregnant again! I pray for a healthy and sticky bean for you :)

I am considered "high risk" so I had my betas drawn right away and my first ultrasound will be when I'm just 5 weeks 5 days. I'm not expecting to see much but will be SO excited to see a heartbeat that early.

I think every doctor is different when they start testing. I wish I had my betas drawn a few more times so I could see how it was progressing. I just keep taking pregnancy tests, like you, for confirmation. Although wondfos have been crap to me. They've told me I'm pregnant but the lines don't progress very well at all.

Hi Jessica,

Thanks! Congrats to you too...

I'll be getting my ultrasound at the same time, 5 weeks 5 days. Hope it goes well for both of us!

I am trying to hold out on betas. I poas a few more times - lol! There definitely seems to be difference between fmu and smu for me. smu gives a stronger line. I worry so much that I'll miscarry again. It makes me sick. Still no real symptoms. A few zits and I get flushed cheeks in the am. Mild cramps maybe twice a day. Boobs only sore if I push on them (hard!) so not sure if that counts.

Well, good luck to you and wishing you a long, healthy pregnancy. What makes you high risk?

Another girl I met on here had her first ultrasound at 5w5d and she even got to see a heartbeat! I won't be too disappointed if I don't though because I know it's still early. Let me know how yours goes!

I have a blood clotting disorder and either a bicornuate or septate uterus. Both of these can cause miscarriage, preterm labor and still birth so I just have to be put on a few different medicines and get checkups to make sure everything is going okay.

I think betas may stress people out especially if they are low and rise slowly but sometimes pregnancy tests can be the same way. I think afternoon urine also gave me better lines but I still test in the am since that's what you're "supposed" to do and then they're more consistent. I'll probably stop testing once I see a heartbeat on an ultrasound. :)

Hi ladies, I had a miscarriage nearly two years ago (went for a scan at 8 weeks and no heartbeat) Two weeks after passing the sac I conceived again... my son is nearly a year old. I did bleed throughout the pregnancy (not sure whether it was due to not having a period after the mc) but he was born at full term perfectly healthy. I am nearly 7 weeks pregnant again and just turned 43 so I know the risks of mc are high but trying to look at the positives. A scan yesterday showed a heartbeat which is encouraging. It's always nerve wracking, especially up to the 12 week mark but you have to remember every pregnsncy is different and just because you miscarried before, it doesn't mean it'll happen again. I didn't realise how common they are til I had mine. Nearly every woman I spoke to said they'd had one (or two). All if whom went on to have healthy children.
It's nice to have this site as a support, you can't help but feel anxious about a pregnancy after a loss.

You guys are amazing, thanks for sharing your stories, experiences, etc. It really helps calm my nerves.

Care - thanks for posting your dpo...!

Jessica - Did you have blood clotting event or just discovered you have a mutation? I found out through testing I have 4 blood clotting mutations, so I'm on metanx, baby aspirin and 40ml lovenox twice a day. Hoping it works! I've heard of the bicornute uterus. There is a girl on youtube (dailybumps) who has/had that. She had two late m/c then healthy pregnancy. She
had the surgery to correct it and is now pregnant again!
I ran out if frer, have more wondfo on the way today and hope to get hcg on monday.

Puma- welcome! Congrats on your pregnancy! Gives me hope that you had son at 41 and bled throughout...it's all so scary isn't it?

I had a little spotting today. Very very light peach mixed with clear cm. Not a ton but freaks me out, I've been spotting before AF since I had m/c in January. I never used to spot before AF prior to m/c. I spotted last Sunday (9dpo) same light peach and thought AF was coming. Got BFP next day, 10dpo, and today is 15 dpo /cycle day 31.

LMP was March 12 and pretty sure I ovulated March 26 or 27. What could this super light peach spotting be? It can't still be implantation can it, 6 days after bfp on frer? I had mild cramping this am, barely any this week (mostly twinges). I had a burny type feeling in center (uterus?) for 10 sec that went away. i also noticed i cramp a little when going from sittingto standing...

Any idea what could cause that, so I can calm down!!!

Boobs hurt a little yesterday and today but barely and might just be from me poking at them! I normally don't get sore boobs during my cycles so maybe that won't be a symptom for me?? I did get shooting pains in boobs last pregnancy, about 20dpo but of course that ended in m/c.

Thanks ladies...going to sit outside and emjoy this (finally!) nice day. Yay for spring on it's way...

*** Got wondfo's in mail today, took one early afternoon. faint line still  Spotting light pink now when I wipe

Thanks Pumpkinseed. Regarding your peach spotting, that's exactly what I had a week after my BFP this time and my scan was fine yesterday. After the peach came bright red so it doesn't mean a thing. With my son I had every colour known to man... peach, brown, light red, dark red.... seriously I started thinking if I had nothing then something was wrong! With my mc it started as spotting pink then red too but got more and more and there was no 'rest day' as I had with my son (eg: 3 days of spotting, 2 of none then spotting again etc) If I see blood now I don't think mc as it seems to be normal for me to spot or have light blood loss.
Also, my boobs never hurt in any of my pregnancies, that was a symptom I never had. I never get tender boobs before a period either. I guess every woman is different. One of the main symptoms I have (and had with my son) is vivid dreams.... and I mean EVERY night since conception. I didn't realise it was even a pregnancy symptom until I read it a few weeks ago. Strange.

Hi puma, thanks for your positivity! I'm sorry you've experienced a miscarriage but now you have a son and you're pregnant again which gives me hope! Like you, I'm nervous for another miscarriage but taking it one day at a time helps. I don't know how you stayed positive when you saw spotting and knew that everything would be fine! I never spot, not a single day in my life, so if it happens I'll definitely be very scared. Even with my m/c I was fine one second and next thing I know I'm gushing blood. There was no warning like spotting or lack of symptoms or anything.

Pumpkin, I found out about the blood clotting thing (factor 5 Leiden) about 2 years ago. My sister was taking birth control and had very intense migraines so she went to the doctor to figure out what it was. They tested her for all sorts of things and factor 5 Leiden is what it came back to be. She told me to get tested if I ever wanted to use birth control just in case because it is genetic and it turns out that 3 out of 5 girls in my family have it. I've watched that ladies videos on YouTube and she's definitely given me hope. The thing that worries me is I don't know how bad it is (or not bad it is) because I haven't done an Mri or hsg. I've just had an ultrasound that showed it. I'm hoping it won't be an issue at all. Although my husband and I are both pretty tall so I worry we may have a long baby and he/she won't have enough room to grow.

I'm sorry you've been having spotting, especially because it's lead to a miscarriage in the past. I wish I had more experience with it. I just know that tons of women have spotting throughout their pregnancy and everything turns out just fine! When is your first doctors appointment? Have you asked them about the spotting? I keep testing to make sure I'm still pregnant! I ran out of wondfos at 17dpo so I've been using frer. I always get sore boobs before AF but I had them with my mc and with this pregnancy too. I think it's just something that's totally random. I definitely use them as a sign I'm still pregnant though. My husband has grabbed my hand away from my chest in public because I've been poking my boobs! I really need to be better about it.

spotting was a few wipes yesterday and again this morning (tan/light brown) but took wondfo just now and there is no line now (or barely - too faint to see).

so, must be a chemical but no bleed yet. will call doc tomorrow as im on lovenox and ba and prometrium and need to go off off it i assume.

i hate this...i can apparently get pregnant, just not stay pregnant.

jessica - wishing u lots of baby luck. just make sure you're monitored well and maybe get on lovenox if u aren't already. that youtube girl got lucky even before the surgery. you are young so i'm sure your body will do what it's supposed to. i'm pulling for u...!

thanks for the support ladies, wishing u better luck than me. i'll prob be taking break from here as it's just too depressing. hate facing our friends/family too who know we're trying. i don't want to sound like a baby but i've had a lot of loss in my life (more than any of my friends my age and often more than people twice my age) and i'm starting to feel like i have a lightning rod on my head. i have to work twice as hard to get half as far. just sucks. feel like i'll never get that baby of our own and tired of drs. ugh

Update - took digital. Not pregnant. Digital said 1-2 weeks last week. Oh well.
