The corpus luteum cyst is normal, it's what keep the pregnancy healthy in the beginning.
The CL secretes progresterone and helps maintain the pregnancy, don't worry!

The length of time is takes to rupture is different for every cyst. It doesn't affect the pregnancy at all so you don't need to worry. I know it can be painful but the doc told me if you have to take Tylenol its safe. If the pregnancy is in the uterus and the baby is fine, just breathe a deep sigh of relief because that is such a blessing! :D

I had a corpus luteum cyst with my first pregnancy and I only knew because I had a scan at 8 weeks. I had a few twinges etc but then by my 12 week scan it was gone! Now I have a healthy boy so try not to worry :) I believe that everyone has the corpus luteum cyst in the beginning (as essential for the pregnancy) but some of them can get really large and cause pain etc.

So if every so often I feel a twinge/poke/pulse about 2.5" left of my belly button, it's possible that that's what that is, and it's good?

Or could just be where the embyro has embedded and twinges could be it nestling in or something... Early on I felt a few twinges/pokes on my right side (that's the side I believe I ovulated from). That was how I first suspected I was pregnant :) All sounds normal to me :)

Actually if it was level with your belly button then might not have anything to so with the pregnancy. Your uterus will be much lower down at 5 weeks. Anyway, as long as you're not in pain then sounds normal. Maybe you're just more aware of that area at the moment so everything is standing out :)

I was thinking the cysts were on the ovary? Or is that not where these tend to be?

Yes but ovaries are quite low down, level with the top of uterus, which is level with your pubic bone. Your uterus doesn't rise above your pubic bone until 12 weeks of pregnancy. I just double checked it on a diagram lol :)

King's right, if it's level with your belly button that's probably intestinal, likely trapped gas that expanded the intestine a bit and caused a sharp twinge. Nothing to worry about!

I had wicked gas pains early on in my pregnancy. Sometimes it felt like I was being stabbed. It was around the same area you're describing. Those pains didn't scare me as much because I knew they were nowhere near my uterus at that point.
