Can't STAND veggies?

Postby mcdaniellp22 » Thu May 07, 2015 7:29 am

So I'm 10 weeks today (hooray!!) and luckily, I have not had morning sickness much at all. However, I have been having some strong food aversions. I ate tons of veggies and fruit before I conceived, as well as eggs and lean meat protein...but now all I want is BREAD and starch. I'm forcing myself to eat lots of fruit because I can seem to stomach it, but salads are out of the question!! Is anyone else sickened by veggies or have any advice? I don't want to turn into a blob ;-)

I couldn't do salad my last pregnancy either. Have you tried raw veggies with a dip, or even lightly steamed ones? Maybe it's the lettuce you don't like?

Another suggestion - veggie fajitas! If you can eat some veggies wrapped in a tortilla, that's better than just the tortilla. ;)

This pregnancy I want nothing to do with Brussels sprouts...which is sad because I loved them!

Thanks for the advice, HighlandGamesGirlCO! Veggie fajitas sound pretty good, so I might just have to try that! Fingers crossed!

Congrats And YAY! care327 we are identical! lol I can't stomach raw veggies with dip either, but I CAN eat shredded lettuce and tomatoes if they are on a burger or something. It is SO strange!!

Thanks ladies....I'm hoping this will pass soon!

Lurking from July. Eat what you can, when you can and don't feel guilty. I was so sick 1st trimester I lived off of peanut butter toast and bagels and cream cheese. No joke. As you progress through your pregnancy you'll find your tastes change and there will be times where you want nothing BUT fruit and veggies. It's not worth making yourself feel like crap if your body is saying "no way" though. Just my two cents!

I second the grilled veggie fajitas! Also steamed Brussels & brocoli are manageable with some salt. I've been on the BRAT diet since Monday with this awful digestive issue I have going on but I did manage to eat a veggie burrito bowl from chipotle yesterday and it was the bomb diggity! My body is craving healthy fats like avocado too which is great! But as far as raw veggies..can't. The thought of salad makes me want to vomit right now. I gave my sister in law a huge bag of organic apples because I can't stand them now. So sad!!

My latest craving: peanut butter banana sandwich!! And watermelon. Weird right lol! But at least it's something. Eat whatever you can, it'll pass!

During my first trimester, I had a strong aversion to meat and veggies. I just wanted carbs and fruit. I say anything you can get yourself to eat is good; don't stress too much. If it helps, I craved salads once my food aversions went away, lol.

^^ Yep my first trimester consisted of nothing but fruit and potatoes and mints lol. It is all I could keep down. Sometimes I could do like a salad (never had the veggie aversion) but heaven forbid I eat yogurt or strawberries lol. You just gotta do what you can to keep food down and worry about diet later :)

It came back for me close to week 14. I stopped feeling so sick but there's still a couple things I can't eat but not nearly as bad :) hang in there your close!

Mine came back slightly somewhere between 12 and 14 weeks, but I was still picky about what I ate and when. I was still really sick until 20 weeks. Since then, I want to eat EVERYTHING but my stomach can't hold very much now that it's smooshed up into my rib cage!
