First BFP! Feeling happy and overwhelmed!

Postby FirstTimeMom1978 » Sat Jun 06, 2015 10:32 am

Hello,
I have just gotten my BFP yesterday after 8 years of marriage. We have wanted so long to start a family. Yesterday was full of excitement over the great news. Now today my mind is going 1,000 miles a minute. I think about all the things I need to do and I just feel panicky. Does anybody else feel this way? How do you cope?

I absolutely felt the same way. I was SO excited when I saw that first BFP, and spent the next 2 or 3 days completely on edge about absolutely everything involved. My coping was just to relax, spend some time enjoying myself with art projects, and wait it out.

It does get better, and you'll be able to relax and enjoy everything soon. Talking it through with your H may help a lot, too; it did for me :) I think for some of us it's just a normal part of seeing that positive test!

Edit to add:  :congrats: :hh9:

FirstTimeMom, :cong: and :welcome:

I think pretty much everyone feels on edge in the early stages of pregnancy, especially if its your first because you don't know what's normal. I coped by staying busy and just enjoying the fact that I was pregnant. I had a few anxious phases but I got through them and all is well now. I'm almost too calm at this point lol. I agree that talking it through with DH is a huge help. He always calmed me down whenever I was nervous about something.
