Insomnia :(

I often have difficulties sleeping due to anxiety, but since becoming pregnant it's even worse. I just can't seem to put my mind at rest and actually fall asleep. Sometimes it's cause I'm stressing over something but other times I'll notice I'm thinking about something completely random (like say, a TV show). Either way, I see almost every hour go by on the clock. Then when it gets close to morning I start worrying about not sleeping yet and not having much time left. I also have to get up to pee almost every hour now (it used to be 1-2 times a night). I don't drink much before bed except the odd time I'll have a smoothie if I'm hungry, so I don't even know where it all comes from!!

DH told me if it's that bad to see the Dr., but I don't even know what they would do, I'm assuming I can't take any sleep aids or anything. I was reading yesterday about relaxation techniques to help you sleep, but nothing really seems to work. I've also read things like drinking a calming tea before bed, but I know that would just make my urinating issue even worse :(

Anyone else have this problem? I just want to be sleeping now while I still can, before I have a baby I have to get up to feed at all hours of the night!

Tylenol PM is safe to take while being pregnant. With my 2 yo, when I was pregnant w/ him, I used that occasionally. Benedryl is also ok to take on occasion. But of course, talk it over with you dr. first. :)

I'd call your doctor. One of the morning sickness meds mine offered me also had a sleep aid, and you took it before bed. So, I am assuming there are at least some sleep medications that are safe during pregnancy. I had insomnia, but it sounds like yours is pretty severe if you aren't getting much sleep at all... so might be worth checking with your doctor so you can get some rest.

Warm bath before going to bed worked for me. Sometimes I used to ask my DH to massage.
