Spotting 4w2d

Postby essex_chook » Tue Jul 28, 2015 6:06 am

Hi all

Myself and my husband had a very unexpected BFP on Saturday. We have been trying for 2 months after having the Mirena removed but I'd been spotting since day 15 on both cycles. I am part of a university study looking at fertility over 30 which requires you to take pregnancy tests on cycle day 28 if AF hasn't arrived.

As I'd been spotting I DID NOT expect a BFP (I got in the shower after I peed!) and to my shock there it was. I already had a visit to the Dr scheduled for Monday to discuss the irregular bleeding. My positive was confirmed and my Dr seemed to think the spotting was likely related to the Mirena removal not the pregnancy. The spotting stopped the day I got my BFP so I thought great!

However after an internal exam at the Drs and after going for a run last night, I noticed a bit of spotting after I wiped (not much - no actual blood, very light red/pink - sorry TMI!). I also noticed some this morning - again the same type. I have a follow up visit tomorrow with the Dr - so I'll obviously be bringing this up.

Has anyone got any suggestions. I thought this could be break through bleeding - I'd be on my period right now if I wasn't pregnant. I am NOT having any cramps. Is this likely just the "aftermath" of my visit to the Dr - she did say I had some blood on my cervix (which was closed) but not much.

Really nervous - this is our first BFP. Not sure how I'll get through to our Drs app tomo!

Hey Essex Chook, didn`t want to read and run, never had bleeding myself, but i know loads of people that have and have perfectly healthy pregnancies. Could be implantation bleed, or it could be that the cervix is really sensitive and the doc irritated it. Try to stay calm and focus on your doc appoint tomo, hopefully he can give you some answers. Good luck

I keep reading the same things - if it's not heavy don't worry to much. Fingers crossed for tomorrow...

I spotted until well into my first trimester. Almost till week 9 I think? It was always light and barely there but there were days that I totally freaked. In any case, there didn't seem to be a cause and I'm now 9 weeks from having my boy! So don't worry to much, if the doctor calls all clear, your good!!

I started spotting around 6 weeks, and again much more heavily at 13 weeks. Both times I was, of course, panicked. The first time they thought it was a hematoma, but we came to find out it was a cervical polyp. Frustrating! But it had nothing to do with baby, and she is doing just fine :)

It never hurts to call your dr if you're concerned, but if you're not cramping or having other symptoms, it is likely nothing to worry about. Hang in there!

Update - spotting turned to clots and actual blood. Had a emergency ob appointment. Cervix is still closed but still bleeding.

My hCG levels yesterday were 53 and have more blood work tomorrow to see if they are doubling
