Awful morning sickness

Postby mrscolviper3 » Wed Aug 05, 2015 11:06 am

Ladies since I hit the 5w mark my nausea is so so so awful. If I'm hungry im nauseous. If I eat, I'm nauseous. I can't catch a break.

Ginger ale does nothing, crackers don't help...any other ideas??

Lemon was my miracle cure. Lemon water, eating wedges of lemon, etc. San Pellegrino Limonata was great because we were coming into summer and it's 18% lemon juice. Other women also have good luck with ginger.

If your nausea is so bad you're having a hard time getting what you need for food & water, I'd talk to your Dr about something to help.

Ohhh goodness. I know it's tough, no typical remedy helped me either. I just did my best to eat if I could and made sure I at least had plenty of fluids. Lemonade was a godsend! My nausea came early, like you at 5 weeks, but left early at 9ish weeks..hopefully this is the same for you..hang in there!

I'm only 4 weeks and I already feel nauseous most of the day. Going to try lemon water and candies. Apparently if you sniff freshly cut lemons it can also help. GL!

I'll get some lemons and hope it works. I ordered some preggie pops as well.

I hope mine leaves by 9 weeks that would be fantastic!

Mine is going strong. I'm back to holding nothing down. I've tried just about everything. Just went and got preggie pops from babies r us and felt okay for the car ride home and then puked practically on arrival. I'm drained. ER and an IV a week and a half ago. I just ran out of zofran which I swore I wouldn't take. I really hope yours is short lived. I wouldn't wish this on an enemy....except when I'm mid puke and one of the kids opens the bathroom door to ask me for something, then maybe. No one gets it.

i hear u. it is NOT easy. I took a zofran which i swore i wouldnt take and i did feel better for awhile....but then i craved pizza, ate it and felt like misery again. The dr put me on diclegis (which is basically a unisom and b6) it doesn't really do much, takes the edge off a bit. i am trying to eat crackers and fruit solely....it seems to help it a bit...i just want to feel like myself again :( :( :(

Exactly, it tricks you into thinking you can eat stuff you can't. I'm sorry you're feeling that way too.

Mrs - I'm on the diclegis too - and like you said it doesn't make it go away it just takes the edge off. I had no idea it was basically just unisom & B6- that's crazy!! Some things that have worked for me are: eating fresh pineapple, orange juice, sherbert push pops (orange are the best), and peppermints work great to help ease that nasty acid taste in your mouth you get right before you puke. For me, I always get "watery mouth" right before I puke - I've learned if I can rush to drink something right when I feel it start, sometimes I avoid puking all together. Sometimes not - but it's worth a shot to at least try.lol Hope you get better soon!!

Weeks 6-9 I got by on gingerale and peppermints.
9-13 weeks I took Diclegis and at first it made me feel completely better, then it just took the edge off... then it did nothing.
13-20 weeks (aka now) I started taking Zofran.
Days where I don't take zofran, or don't take it soon enough, I throw up. Days I take zofran, I don't throw up. And I can eat again. And it's amazing. But um... if you do take zofran, I also recommend eating at least one FiberOne bar (or something similar) a day. Some people get constipation with it reeeeeeally bad. Also, I wouldn't take zofran until second trimester. In all likelihood it's safe, but I guess there's been a study or two where it can mess with the pallet. But after first trimester that's formed so it's all good.

Having lemon juice mixed with 1 glass of water every morning helped me to get through morning sickness. At first I have tried with ginger but it didn't work for me.

Citrus fruits are very good to ease nausea. I used to eat grapefruit.
