Acne solutions needed!

Postby MrsK » Mon Aug 04, 2014 7:08 am

My face is out of control! It's gotten bad over the last 2 weeks and nothing seems to be helping. My dr didn't tell me to stay away from any topical treatments so I used a salicylic acid spot treatments twice. I looked it up and apparently that's a huge no-no. I hope I didn't harm my baby
I heard lemon juice works so I tried it last night, it didn't do much. Anybody have any natural solutions to help with breakouts?

My doctor said no Salicylic Acid, but benzoyl peroxide is fine. I'm using the hell out of it. I also like witch hazel and Listerine in a pinch.

I'm in the same boat. I'm still using my normal acne wash in the shower b/c none of the no-no's are in it, but it's more a deep cleaner than acne-clearer. The only thing that's worked for me in the past 10-15yrs is Tazorac, but that's on the no-no list as well. My face has just exploded over the past 5weeks. My break-outs started 2dpo and haven't let up since. I feel like I'm back in my teens. *sigh*

edited to add: Listerine on acne spots???? Does that really work? I'm getting the cystic spots--swollen red spots that often times don't have a whitehead...

I feel horrible for using salicylic acid, I had no idea it was bad! Benzoyl peroxide makes me red and itchy every time I use it so that won't work for me. I've heard toothpaste, honey, or oatmeal work well too so I guess I'll just keep trying anything natural I can find! I feel like I'm in my teens again too, RoloCat. It's embarrassing especially since most people don't know I'm pregnant so they are probably wondering what the heck is up with my skin. I have 2 on my jawline that are cystic and don't cover well with makeup at all. Hoping it'll get better in the 2nd trimester!

Don't worry about the salicylic acid. Because it's topical, you don't get as much of it as if you were taking it orally. I used it a few times, too, but I've stopped now. I've also heard tea tree oil is good... vinegar, egg whites, baking soda. I've heard garlic is good, but no way... you can't make me. Sometimes a good old dose of sun can work miracles for me.

Keep your face clean. This will prevent dust to enter into your skin pores.

Acne is a very common skin disorder. The search for acne solution had become a very difficult task. A regular gentle washing of your skin is very essential to get rid of your acne problem. Make sure that you only wash the skin twice in a day. After each washing, you should try this out a moisturizing cream, which is not oil based. It is important that you avoid the use of oil based cosmetics. They are very capable of promoting your acne problem.
