Betabase indicates twins???

Postby Stormymonday » Tue Mar 01, 2016 11:55 am

Hi Everyone,

Just had my betas done yesterday at 24dpo and they were 8993!!! That seemed pretty high for me, even in comparison to when I was pregnant with my daughter, so of course, I went to Google!! Batabase indicates that I fall in the average median for twins!!! Would be so welcomed, but so scary!! LOL

Just want to know from you ladies, what were your betas around this time? 24dpo or 5w3d

Have my first ultrasound on Thursday to rule out ectopic as I have had one in the past.

It's definitely hard to tell based on hCG alone. Sometimes combined with progesterone it is a better indicator, but still...some women just produce a lot with a healthy singleton, while some produce less with a healthy singleton.

With my fourth baby, my betas were at triplets level for both draws. It was pretty crazy. But definitely just one baby. :) I've had high counts several times but only ever singletons.

With my daughter, I don't think i hit 8000 until 8 weeks!! and all my other pregnancies after that were losses and didn't get did not even get close to that.. the last one my 3rd serial beta only reached 2200...

regardless, if its a super strong singleton, or twins I'm pleased with the numbers!!! Thursday's ultrasound can't come fast enough!!! :)

As you can see in my siggy at 5w5d my betas were over 15,000 and there's always been just one healthy baby in there :D.
High betas can obviously mean twins, but sometimes singletons can also produce a lot of HCG. I've read online that after a mc, it's sometimes common to produce lots and lots of HCG in your next pregnancy as your body is attempting real hard to keep you pregnant, but I'm not sure how truth is that.

All I know from personal experience is that I had normal and high HCG levels during my first pregnancy and still had a mc. And with this second one I was really happy with my numbers at 5 weeks, especially cause I was bleeding as my HCG increased and everything turnet out being just fine :)

at 17dpo my HCG was 1452,(168 3 days earlier) so FX mine keeps doubling at a quick rate, and ill be right there with you with the high HCG. Im so worried about my levels as they slowed at 3000 last year when they told me i didnt have a viable pregnancy @ 5+2, levels did slowly creep up to 11000 before mc at 10 weeks (2xultrasounds showing healthy baby)
