worried about hcg

Postby Sarah0819 » Tue Apr 26, 2016 12:32 pm

I had a chemical pregnancy a few months ago. My hcg yesterday was 40 (11-12 dpo). I have looked at the beta charts, but my doc doesn't seem super enthused about that number. I am really worried. I go back in on Thursday to see if they are doubling. My numbers were a lot higher than this with my son. :( Anyone have experience with this?

When did you get your first positive test? The range for initial implantation can be from 5-12 DPO (later for some women) so you may have JUST implanted...it may not mean anything negative, just that it's only just starting. I'm hoping great things for you! Loss is a hard thing to handle and I hope things go well this time.

My first beta was 13 and I am now 8+ weeks. The initial number is not important what is will be the rate of increase.

HCG numbers differ so much across pregnancies too. As long as it is within the range for your dates (which at 3-4 weeks 40 is well within the range) you are OK too

I wouldn't worry till you get that second number.
I've never had a beta done so early, but I found out I was pregnant at 12dpo and I barely had a squinter in a FRER and my clear blue digital was negative lol. Those tests are supposed to be super sensitive, so I could tell that by the results I barely had any HCG in my system. Two weeks later I was bleeding pretty badly and had betas done, turns out my HCG was over 10,000 and 48 hours later over 15,000 which is above the range for 5 weeks. So a pregnancy can very well start off kinda "weak" and then HCG starts doubling like crazy as baby grows.

Thanks! As of yesterday, my beta was 250. So, I am feeling much better! That's a doubling time of 1.1 days. My son was almost exactly that at 15 dpo, so I am feeling reassured. :)
