Anyone who got their H1N1 shot please help!!!! x-post

Postby jnormandeau » Sun Nov 08, 2009 6:45 pm

Ok, I posted something about this in the General Pregnancy Boards, but now I am concerned. One of the last posts I read an article someone posted that linked swine flu vaccine to miscarriage so I am worried. I was wondering i anyone who did get it could let me know how it went for them and how they are their baby are doing. I know that miscarriage rate is high in the first trimester, but I am still a little worried about it. Thanks for all of your help!!!!

a lot of people are against the h1n1 shot. i was really on the fence about it. i used logical thinking (and fear) to help me come to my conclusion. since vaccines were invented, much disease has been irradicated. they are made from whatever disease or virus they are for. i also realized enough people have had it by now and if there was a serious problem then it would have been recalled.

i just had the shot yesterday and my kids had the nose spray. we are all fine so far. maybe there are people who get adverse reactions. id really like to see the odds of that happening.

u have to make your own choice. to tell u the truth, i feel much better now knowing we are protected. good luck!

I did not get it because I have never had a flu shot. I would not want to have some kind of reaction and I dont think they REALLY know what affect it will have on my LO.I think they are kinda using us for lab rats at this point because they dont know what this shot will do. It has not been out long enough. PLEASE DONT GET UPSET this is just my opinion which means nothing in the long run.It is just how I feel. You made the right choice for you and I am sure your LO will be just fine and so will you.I hope I did not upset you in any way. You are so newly preg your baby will be just fine honey dont you worry about a thing.

I got mine friday and i'm in the 3rd trimester, but so far i'm fine and baby is fine as well, I go in for my checkup tomorrow and i'm sure he'll be just fine then too. DD whose 2 in 5 days also got it and so did dh, I wish we'd be more supportive of eachtoher on these topics (not this post, but in general) instead of scaring eachother, in reality NO ONE knows whats right, you only do what you think is right for you and yoru family, and lets all just be supportive of it, and stop scaring eachother in regards to dying whether we get it or dying whether we don't get it. Don't worry sweety you'll be fine, and so will the baby, don't worry about it too much, just relax.

Both my LO and I got the regular flu and H1N1 vaccine and I am so relieved we did 100%. I've heard way too many cases of pregnant women contracting H1N1 and then dying. My girlfriend is due in January adn she somehow got H1N1 a few weeks ago. She had to be hospitalized and was quarantined and they feared she might have to deliver early to save her life. Thank God her immune system pulled through but she was terrified. She regretted not getting the vaccine.

By the way we got the preservative free vaccine.

I got mine today & I also read what you read about it being linked to miscarriage. I was only doing what I thought was right for me & LO & now I'm freaked out about it.

EDIT: I'm the one who hit yes. I'm a goober & didnt read the question & figured it asked if you were getting it! haha Oh lord, I hope thats not a sign.

I got mine 3 weeks ago, didn't have a single side effect let alone miscarry. Not sure how that could happen since it's a dead virus and the rest of the ingredients are the same as the regular flu shot.

I got mine a little over a week ago. I'm high risk and I had no complications and did not miscarry. Today I found the heartbeat for the first time with my HiBebe doppler! I am not worried, and I am glad as hell that I'm not going to get sick now because I have had sooooo many co-workers who have had it who felt like they were dying!

I don't know what the statistics are but I would've been more worried about miscarrying if I contracted the flu with all of the dehydration and extreme fevers that came with it than I was about getting the flu shot. I miscarried last December a week after I had a gastrointestinal flu so you can probably understand my worry.

I got mine a few days ago. The injection site hardly hurt, and I had no side effects at all. :)

I honestly believe from the miscarriage stories I've read associated with the H1N1 vaccine that it was SADLY coincidence for a lot of those women (from another board, not TWW). So please don't crucify me here, but from all of the reading I've done about 1st trimester miscarriage, there is almost nothing we can do to prevent or stop a miscarriage, if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen - more than likely due to some chromosomal defect with the developing baby.

And yes, I had my H1N1 shot and yes, my LO is doing JUST fine. ;)

I got mine a few days ago and have had no side effects. The only thing to complain about was that my arm was a little sore for the next day. My doctor was pretty persistent that I get it to be safe. I sure hope my doctor would not stear me wrong.

I got mine four weeks ago and have not had any problems. I also got the regular flu shot five weeks ago without any problems.

My arm was a little tender the next day but other then that I had no problems.

The issues concerning miscarriage and the flu shot are more for those who are getting it BEFORE their 13th week.

I know LOTS of pregnant women who have gotten it and have had no problems.

I'vr had the H1N1 and regular flu shot (got H1 first and regular flu shot a week ago) and have had no side effects. We saw our LO during an u/s a week ago and he/she was bouncing around the HB was really strong.

For me, I'd rather be vaccinated and know I did the best FOR ME and my family that to not have been vaccinated and have something happen. I think the guilt from that would kill me.
