I have an anterior placenta as well. It's no big deal as long as it his high and away from your cervix. Don't worry. In some cases, it can mean it takes longer to feel your baby kick. I haven't had any issues with this, though. I started to feel little pop rocks of movement around 19 weeks or so. Now, he's pretty much doing kung-fu all day long.

The placenta keeps growing and the baby moves around and may interact with it, so I am not surprised that it looks different from visit to visit. At first, the placenta was just kind of there, not very thick. When baby shifted at the next visit, he was using it as a pillow! The placenta also looked a heckuva lot bigger and thicker. It's hard to tell from this picture, and I'm not an expert, but I don't think it's anything to get worked up about.

Remember, your sonograms will get to your doctor. She will take a look and call if she sees anything out of the ordinary. And, if you want, I'm sure you could call her a few days after (give her time to review) and ask specifically about it.

I had an anterior placenta with #4. It caused no issues. It took a bit longer to feel regular movement than with my other pregnancies but that's to be expected. All it means is the placenta is on the side of the uterus that is against your belly instead. It's fine mama.

I am currently 18 weeks pregnant with my first and I also have an anterior placenta. My doctor assured me that it is absolutely nothing to worry about. Apparently it's fairly common.

I have one, too! I'm also pregnant with my first child. Like gonzo mentioned, I'm just thrilled that it isn't low and by my cervix.

an anterior placenta is just another variation of normal, nothing to be even remotely concerned about!

I have an anterior placenta. Anyone had a c section prior to having an anterior placenta? The doc mentioned concern if the placenta grows into the scar tissue... I hope things will be ok with my baby and all...

I have had an anterior placenta with all three and my first was a c section and dd2 was a vbac. My ob made no mention of the placenta growing into the scar tissue and my girls were only 21 months apart so I hope that helps you not to worry....
