Feeling Movement?

Postby mrsm44 » Thu Nov 07, 2013 5:26 pm

Has anyone been feeling any movement? This is my first, so it's hard to tell what is movement versus gas, etc. However, earlier, I was sitting on the couch, sort of hunched over, and I kept feeling this sensation come and go. The thing is, it was a little painful. Is it possible that feeling kicks at 16 weeks, 4 days could be mildly painful?

I felt movement for the first time at 17 weeks exactly. I only noticed it because I was up in the middle of the night willing myself to fall back asleep, and suddenly I felt three tiny pop, pop, pops, it felt like tiny taps in a row. I didn't feel anything else for almost a week, but then it started picking up daily. Now at 24 weeks the baby kicks so hard that it looks like an alien is trying to escape!

I doubt you would feel any pain from kicking this early, maybe it's your ligaments stretching? That can feel like a stab from time to time.

I started feeling movement around 16 weeks also. For me it felt like something was poking me from the inside. I have had a lot of weird abdominal pains in the past month or so, and I usually have no idea what it is. The round ligament pain is along the bikini line, so I assume I know what that is. But otherwise, who knows what's really going on in there? Have you felt movement without it hurting?

I`m confused about this too mrsm44 being my first, i have allsorts of wierd sensations, some like you say mildly painful and others not really. I have no idea if any of it is baby, or ligaments or gas. Hoping when i get further along i feel more definite movements that i can actually say for sure is baby. I know from my scan i have a wriggler, so i`m thinking i am feeling bub but just don`t know it. Can`t wait for some definite kicks now : )

I have an anterior placenta and this is my first. As a result I didn't really start to feel movement until week 22 or 23. I think I felt one little move early on at week 17 or so but it was just the once, when I was on my side in bed.

You know when you have an annoying muscle spasm somewhere on your body? Or when your eyelid spasms? That's what the early movements felt like to me. Like a muscle spasm. :D Not at all painful, just like a muscle fluttering.

The best way to encourage movement is to lay on your back for a *very short time only*. When baby's big enough you'll get nearly instant movement!

I started feeling the "pops" around 16-17 weeks, but it wasn't until the 19th week that the kicks became more obvious :) I'm still not feeling ALL the movement we could see on the ultrasound, but it's so reassuring!

I'm another anterior placenta so I didn't really feel movements (that I was sure were movements) until recently.

With my first, I felt a "pop" around 15 weeks but then didnt feel anything definite until closer to 18. Between 15-18 I felt more like bubbles or fluttery type movements. At first I thought it was gas but it happened every day whether I was gassy or not! I am excited to feel those again :)

I felt my DD at 14.5 weeks and this one at 13.5 weeks. It's really intermittent at this point. I didn't start feeling a lot of activity until around 15-16 weeks.
It's a really hard sensation to explain. It's like a squirming, popping feeling. For me it's kinda twingey and just a tad bit painful like someone just poked or pinched me. Like a ZING! lol

Thank you for all the insight, ladies!! I have no idea if what I'm feeling is the baby or not. It's not all the time, but I've felt poking sensations. The other day, I felt poking sensations but they were slightly painful (inspiring this inquiry). I'm not sure, because this is my first, but I am wondering if it's the situation in which I am feeling the baby, and just don't realize it!

It's so hard to know if those subtle little pokes and flutters are baby. I felt what I thought was baby last night about 3 times in a row. It just felt like little taps. I would assume it shouldn't hurt at all since the baby is still so little, but I guess it could hurt for some. Can't wait to feel regular movement!

The first things I felt were gental little taps! Definetly weird and something I hadn't previously felt! I mentioned it to the midwife and she said 'yep that's baby, nobody else is tapping you from inside'. That was between 16-17 weeks. Felt things happen since then but still nothing consistent and I'm 20 weeks Friday. I feel her one day and then nothing the next. I know it's common not to feel regular movements until about 24 weeks (esp with first baby) but eagerly waiting the regular and proper kicks!

I felt taps last night, and I am 17 weeks as of yesterday or sunday. I guess it was the baby! I felt about 5 or 6 taps, then it stopped, and then 3 or 4 more. It was something that I've never felt before. CH-UK, your midwife is funny; 'no one else is tapping you from the inside'. Haha!
