Sam by itself?

What do you guys think of Sam as a boy's name by itself? I don't love the name Samuel. Sampson or Samson are okay...but I like Sam a lot. Too weird to use by itself?

Not at all! I like Sam! We have friends that named their boy Will, which I love too. Not William but Will.

It's fine to use by itself. As long as you like it, that's what matters.

I like Sam! It is a good name by itself.

I have the same feelings toward Ben. I love that name, but Benjamin is only okay to me.

I love Sam by itself! :) I think Sam is one of those names where their friends call them SamLastName... it just flows so well with pretty much any last name that kids use the whole thing :) :)

My DH has this thing about not naming kids the short form and it's a really good thing we are having a girl because for a boy we wanted to use Theo but DH was insistent it had to be Theodore, which I really didn't like.

I'd say if you and DH both like it, then go for it!!

Funny I actually just read a blog about baby trends for 2014 and one of them was nicknames as first names like Alex, Sam, Robbie etc but not short for Alexander, Samuel or Robert :) so go for it you're right in on the trends ;)
