Pregnancy Chloasma

Postby B Michaelson » Mon Sep 01, 2014 11:23 am

I kinda freaked out a couple days ago when I noticed most (but not all) of my forehead started looking darker and splotchy. I googled like mad and found out it is pregnancy related. I have been using new moisturizer and thought maybe it was that. I read it won't really go away until birth since its hormone related.

DH said he wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't point it out but now I am feeling a bit self conscious about it. I am fair skinned with some freckles so I am hoping it just looks like normal freckly skin.

Anyone else have experience with it?

I'm going to be completely honest here: it's not my face that has it... it's my nipples. It looks exactly like the chloasma that shows up on your face. I'm also fair skinned with freckles so maybe it's just the type of skin we have; you're also further along than I am so maybe it'll show up on my face as I get further along. I'm really hoping it goes away, but I know LOTS of women who still have theirs from pregnancy.

Yikes, I hope this doesn't stick around or get darker. I don't see it on my nipples though. I wouldn't mind it if it was even instead of splotchy. I could use a little tan lol. I look like a ghost most days.

The only good thing about being a redhead is its a gene mutation that also causes higher pain tolerance. I will let you know after labour if I still agree with this at all lol.

I think it can be everywhere. It's also what causes the linea nigra on your tummy but mine isn't really showing up yet. Just a hair of a line.

I got my linea nigra WAY early. I posted about it at 8 weeks saying it was bizarre that I already had it. Besides my weird-ass nipples (My husband calls them nipples without borders. Nice, right?) and the linea nigra, all of my birthmarks seem to be darkening as well (not my freckles though...). I was always under the impression that it's the darker, more olive skinned ladies that get these skin discolorations more than us fair ladies. My mom is a redhead; I'm not, but I have the redhead skin type.

I heard it was more common in darker skin too.

I'm not sure if that's what it is called but a friend of mine got a dark line of skin on her upper lip while pregnant and the doctor said it was from sun exposure?? I feel bad for her though bc it's not a great spot to have a dark line. Looks like a little mustache! :( I've been steering clear of the sun just in case! Lol.
How are you B??
