20 weeks - have not felt baby move

The affectionately named "honeymoon trimester". Your belly is getting bigger and you start to feel your first baby kicks. Are you having a boy or a girl?

I am 20 weeks this week, this is my first pregnancy, is it normal to have not felt the baby move yet?

With my first 2 I felt baby around 16 weeks. This time however I didn't feel baby until 23 weeks and even now at 27 weeks I don't feel her as much as I did my boys as my placenta is anterior and absorbing much of the movement.

There is still lots if room in there and as your bub gets bigger you will feel movement. It's frustrating waiting but it will happen.

It is not uncommon, it's your first and you aren't sure what you might be feeling yet, for all you know you have mistaken gas that was really your baby!! :) Also the location of your placenta could be affecting the way you feel baby. Have you had your 20 week scan yet? Ask the tech the location of the placenta, also bring up your concerns with your dr to put your mind at ease.

Echoing what's been said! I can't remember when I first felt it - but it was around 20 weeks... or later? It definitely feels like gas bubbles! After I was pregnant, everytime I had a little burbling in my lower half I'd be like "wtf?? is there a baby in there?? Oh right, it's just gas".... I mean, you will probably be able to tell them apart once you get familiar, but it's a very similar feeling.

I haven't felt anything yet either. Baby is meaduring 19w5d but my placenta is antetior so its kind of cushioning him. I would like to feel him soon though.

Oh yeah! Completely normal. I think they give you till about 24 weeks to feel something. And it's so subtle for a long while. It takes a while until you start feeling those big kicks. I felt my first about 15-16 weeks. It was so tiny, like something was tapping me from the inside. It does feel like gas bubbles. Or fish fins. Or someone lightly tapping you from the inside. Give it a few more weeks. You'll feel your little one.

I didn't feel my first baby until at or around the time of my anatomy scan at 20 weeks. This time, I've felt movement since about week 12. The first pregnancy I'm wondering if I felt it and just didn't know what I was feeling. Maybe that's true for you too...?

Early movement and gas feel so much alike! I think the difference between movement and gas is that movement feels more consistent than the occasional pip of a gas bubble. But at 20 weeks, when I felt movement, it felt more definite and stronger than gas. I remember feeling baby move at 20 weeks and my friend wanting to feel. SHe couldn't feel anything. Hubby didn't start feeling it on the outside until about 24 weeks.

Speaking of movement, I'm feeling baby now. Like little taps or gas right near my hip bone. Then it goes away. SO maybe it IS gas!?

Have some coffee and donuts and then 20 minutes later lie really still. You might feel those jabs! Or your baby might be really chill and not a soccer star. Don't worry, Mama. You'll feel it.
