TMI ALERT- QUESTION

Postby jesusmiracle » Thu Dec 18, 2014 12:10 pm

Sorry if this is TMI... but a question, is diarrhea common in the 2nd trimester or pregnancy in general? Or is it a major concern?

For the first 16 weeks, I cycled between one extreme and the other continuously. 2-3d of constipation, a day or two that seemed normal, then 2-3 of diarrhea (sometimes worse than others). For the better part of 4mo. My doctor didn't seem worried. If you have it for a few days and it seems to clear up on its own, it's probably not a problem, but if you've had it for a while and it doesn't seem to be getting better, you'll risk dehydration which isn't good for you or baby. I think that constant diarrhea for more than 4 straight days requires a call to your doctor. You can take some things to help, and they should be able to direct you to safe medications...

I've had both as well and sometimes within the same session, if you know what I mean. As long as it's not extreme constipation or extreme diarrhea, I really wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you so much ladies!

It has happened once today, other then that, It has been regular bowel movement. I just didn't know if it was an immediate "go to the doctor" sign, or meant something was wrong.

I personally think it's in general, just speaking from my experience. With dd1 I had it in the first tri for the first few weeks and some constipation in between - although I've had some hemorrhoid problems even before I was ever pregnant. With dd2 I don't remember lol I know I went more towards the end. THIS go around I was more constipated in the beginning lol

Also, I think if you are beginning to think it's a concern just ask your doc at the next visit or call. 8)

I've been experiencing the same recently! Before becoming pregnant, I had bad stomach aches/diarreah a lot. Then, both times that I have been pregnant, I became regulated (solid stools, or even constipation at times). Now, I have been having diarreah on and off for the last week or so. What gives??

Thankfully my stools have been normal since my last post, however I did ask the doctor, and he said "hormones can cause diarrhea" or also some types of food my randomly upset your stomach.... If it doesn't last more then 3 days in a row, it's nothing to be worried about... :D :D :D
