Cramping

Postby DuchessArcher » Fri Jan 02, 2015 5:45 pm

Anyone else having uterine cramping? I'm very early into my 2nd trimester (14 + 1 today) and beginning yesterday the cramping has picked up in frequency, although it's better today. I called the clinic and they just said to drink lots of water and monitor for any bleeding/urinary burning. Did your clinic give you any other advice? If you have had cramping, did you keep exercising? Thanks for any thoughts!

Is this your first? Cramping around 14 weeks could possibly already be the start of Braxton hicks contractions, which are totally harmless. Mine started around 14 weeks with this pregnancy but it's my fourth (they start earlier and earlier with each subsequent pregnancy) so its more likely if this is your second or greater pregnancy. I think with my first they started around 25 ish weeks...idk for sure. does your abdomen get tight during the cramps? Exercise can definitely bring them on although they can happen with out anything in particular triggerin them. Totally harmless and nothing to worry about though. Or it could just be cramps unrelated to Braxton hicks, or stretching of the uterus and whatnot. As long as they aren't real painful.

Thanks for the thoughts! I think I may have just been dehydrated because I've been chugging water like like crazy the last few days and it's been better. I did have one cramp last night that felt like a tightening sensation...but seems a little early for B-H (this is my first). Thanks again for your thoughts.

Glad they subsided...yes make sure to keep yourself hydrated. You need to drink way more water now to make up for all the extra fluids, blood flow, tissue, and of course baby now than you needed to previously. I notice that if I'm a little dehydrated that my Braxton hicks are more intense, not that what you're experiencing is bh, but anyways...glad to know you're doing better :)
