They say for MOST women, it eases up between 12 and 14 weeks. I have hyperemesis gravidarum so mine never went away, but I felt a definite decrease around 12 weeks. It's now starting to get bad again at 22 weeks.

But welcome to the second trimester! Even if the nausea persists, it's definitely an exciting time as your bump shows up and you start to feel baby move. It makes the bad stuff a little easier to deal with!

fingers crossed then, bless ya, i cant cope with this sickness anymore and its only been about 5 weeks. Although it has been pretty bad :( i already have a bump, which is weird but if i remember rightly (its been over 11 years) i had a bump early with my first, obviously a bit earlier this time and just bought my first pair of maternity jeans! seeing the baby on friday so it'll all be worth it when i see his/her little face!!

Yes, seeing baby puts everything back into perspective!

Are you on any meds for nausea? I take Diclegis and it has been a life saver. I'll take zofran on top of that if I have to, but zofran alone doesn't do much for me. No one warned me about how emotionally draining constant nausea can be. I've had a rough go, and have even been in the hospital twice this trimester, but all in all it's been WAY better than the first trimester. That was just miserable!

really weird question but how many times do you think you can be sick before you can be certain you've not kept anything down? i eat and then throw up quite a few times, but i dont know if ive kept any down :/ im putting weight on, so im assuming that i am! and its not always the case but seems to be getting more frequent that i seem to throw up most of my dinner!

Most of the time for me, I wouldn't vomit the complete contents of my stomach. When I did, it was painful, full on heaving and by the end I knew there was nothing left. That's the first sign for me that I am going to need a trip to the ER for fluids because once I start vomiting like that, I can't stop.

I lost close to 30 lbs in my first trimester and about 3 lbs since. Even so, my doctor said I had enough extra padding starting out that she wasn't too worried. If your scale has been going up, I'd say you're in good shape!

I should add, even with all I've lost, baby has measured a healthy, right on track height and weight at both 12 weeks and 20 weeks. They take what they need, which isn't a ton, you get the rest. :)

I'm sorry kelbri29 that you're still struggling with sickness too! I also have HG and at 21 weeks I still need my medication (Phenergan and Zofran, but mainly Phenergan) just to keep food down. :( Thankfully like BeeCee said, my baby is 100% healthy regardless of how sick I've been and the meds I've had to take. I hope you begin to feel better soon or that your doctor will at least give you some meds!!

I'm curious if this ever ended for you. I'm just hitting 16 weeks and I'm still throwing up if I don't pop my zofran in time.
Lol... I feel so lied to by society. Until I came here I thought the rule was it goes away by 2nd trimester. :P
