When to get waxed down there?

Postby smile07 » Mon Nov 22, 2010 8:00 am

Hey everyone! I am 35 weeks pregnant and wondering when would be the best time to get waxed before delivery? I have never done it before, but would love to do so just to feel "cleaner". Shaving right now is impossible for me, even if I try with a mirror I still cut myself, UGGHH.... Also, how long does it take for the hair to start growing back after waxing? Thanks so much!!!

I have never waxed down there before but I have to say that I think it will hurt a lot 8O I hate having my eye brows done but I manage to live through it...lol.. Not sure waxing it during pregnancy is a god idea or not?

Good luck if you decide to do it...I am just a whimp!

I waxed religiously before DD #1, and
I tried to keep it up while pregnant with her. I absolutely couldn't stand the pain. It was too much with the increased blood flow to the area and the lack of Motrin (I would always pre-medicate). Just an FYI. ;)

When i was expecting dd my doctor also does not recommend shaving or waxing the area it could also lead to infections if cut or you in up with open wound

i just plan on cutting everyting very close and clean of course i have to get hubby to do this i can not even with a mirror

I am probably going to get waxed in the next couple of weeks even though I'm scared of the pain! I used to get it done regularly and I'm not used to so much hair down there.

Just a tip ( I get mine done all the time and its does not affect me normally) however if you have never been waxed - now is prob not teh best time. I have been having brazillian (with a little on top) done for close to 10years now and it never affects me ACCEPT during pregancy, it hurts like a mofo.

I am having it done (grinning and bearing) at 39 weeks as I do not want ingrowns right after delivery, I am having a csection.

I found out that I can use DH electric shaver. He doesn't know. I don't cut myself, no razor bumps and no itching.

I just wanted to agree with the others who suggested it might be very painful to wax while pregnant, especially so pregnant. They don't even recommend doing it right before or after your period because of the same reason--increased sensitivity.

I continue to shave mine during pregnancy. My hubby and I have a special electric razor that we both use for that area, and then I go back over it with my regular razor to get it smooth. He'll help me when I get closer to delivery and care about how it looks...right now I'm okay with missing the big patches I can't see.

The whole not worrying about it before delivery due to infection risk makes sense, but I've been shaving down there for years...never something I've had an issue with before, and now the overgrowth is extremely uncomfortable for me. :?

I tried to get waxed today, but it was much too painful. Before I got pg, I'd always get the brazilian wax, but today I barely got through the bikini area before I had to stop. That part usually never hurt before I was pg. I also used to take some excedrin beforehand, which of course we can't do while pg.

I will just stick with shaving during pregnancy from here on out.

An electric trimmer would probably be your best bet! You can pretty much blindly do it and it gets a pretty close trim..
