1st signs of labor?

Postby hls268 » Tue Feb 08, 2011 11:11 am

What did people experience as first signs of labor? This is my 3rd pregnancy but have had all c-sections and no real labor. I am 34 weeks now and so uncomfortable. Baby is very low and have so much pressure it is hard to walk. I have lower back pain and very sore achy legs, especially the upper parts of legs. Have bh contractions on and off too.

What did people experience as first signs of labor?

1DD The start of labor pains as period cramps.
2DD Didn't have any. I was induced on my EDD for low fluid. I was 4CM and 75% effaced when I got admitted for my induction with no signs of labor.
3DD the night before had SUPER HEAVY muscy discharge. The same in the am with bloody show.

I had bloody show a couple of days before I went into labor. Pretty nasty, but exciting because it meant that I was about to go into labor!

With DD I had a ton of BH contractions and about a week or so before labor they became more intense and frequent. The morning of I had a bloody show and my contractions started for real, but at first I wasn't sure if they were really contractions because they weren't that intense. Almost like period cramps, but in waves.

Uh oh...I just started having waves of period cramps the last two days. They start in the morning then go away during most of the day and then have come back at night for a couple hours. I will be 37 weeks thursday.

First baby who was a preemie had a bit of pink bleeding about 4 days before my membranes ruptured spontaneously when I was rolling over in bed, I had been having a lot of period like cramping the week before.

2nd baby rolling over again in bed my water broke but just slightly (even though they said it was not broken or ruptured when I got to the hospital they agreed it was when I started spurting fluid and screaming from the intense contractions.

3rd baby, bloody show at 2:00 am until about 6 am, went to work because bleeding had stopped and I had 0 contractions. Bleeding started again at noon, still 0 contractions. Went home at 3:00 feeling crappy, contractions started at 6pm, had him the next morning.

Every single time it was soooo different!

i woke up in the middle of the night with period cramps, slight nausea and a feeling of general "unwellness"...I absolutely didnt think it was early labour, just me not feeling great. we waited up a few hours and didnt feel any better then all of the sudden the contractions started and where immediately back to back with back labour. I ended up with a csection but laboured for 4 hours. Good luck!

My first sign was a full-on, 90-second, transition-strength contraction about ten minutes after my 40 week exam. An hour later my contractions were 2 minutes apart, and three hours later I was at 8.5cm (where Mimi got stuck--ended up with a c-section).

I had seen some pieces of my mucus plug in the week before, but hadn't had any false labor or other signs that anything was going to happen. At that 40-week exam I was told that I was fingertip dilated. We scheduled an induction.

Lost my mucus plug like 3 weeks before labor- so that was a big fake out for me, lol.. My first signs were BH slowly getting crampier and stronger and closer together. They kinda slowly transitioned from BH ctx to the real thing over the course of a day or so.
