Did you make it to your scheduled C Section?

Postby Twinklebug » Tue Jan 31, 2012 11:45 am

Just wondering what everyone's experiences were with their scheduled C section dates? THis is our second baby, but the first go around we had twins so its hard for me to compare. This baby is a singleton...my 40 week due date is May 13th, and my dr scheduled me for a C section on May 9th..so 39 and a half weeks? Will I make it that far? Didnt go into labor the first time with the twins, I had my Section at 38 weeks..and really not interested in going into labor this time either. What weer all of your experiences? Did you make it to your scheduled section? If not, how far ahead did you go into labor?

My first son was an emergancy c-section at 30 weeks because he had stopped growing and the placenta was about to stop working. I was scheduled for a repeat c-section at 38 weeks the second time because of high blood pressure and I am sure if I had not had the c-section I would of gone to my due date atleast. I was having a few contractions the day of my c-section but I did not have any before that and I had twice a week NSTs!

I'm the opposite of you, my first was a singleton and labor started at 40wks and 3 days. They wouldn't let me have a c section until 41 wks, but ended up a section anyway.

Second preg was twins scheduled C section at 38 wks 3d, no labor. I was shocked I made it. 8O

My feeling is that my body is good at staying pregnant, so if you made it full term with twins, you will make it with the singleton too.

I found drinking lots of water and lots of rest helped prevent the BH from turning into labor, but i think it was mostly my genetic make up too.

If you do go into labor before the scheduled CS, then no biggie, you just go in for an emergency C and have to arrange babysitters at a shorter notice. Less convenient, but not impossible either.

Section scheduled for 39 weeks I made it to 38 and 3 days before my waters went and I went into active labour leading to an emergency section after getting to 5 cms in just over an hour.
Kyle James finally arrived 26/06/2011 6 lbs 3oz by emergency C section. xx

My first were twins too...born at 32 weeks. My next one I fought PTL from 18 weeks to the last month....I ended up being induced at 39.6 weeks. This pg has been a breeze. I have a scheduled c-sec for 39 weeks. I am hoping to make to the scheduled day.
