Just curious if anyone knows this! My doctor keeps saying I am measuring right on time and so it just makes me curious what the average size is.. and i know it can all change.. but it would be nice to know!

At the last two ultrasounds I had, Ava measured in the 51st %tile (28 weeks), and then again I think in the 47th (32 weeks), so that's pretty darn average. :) Based on her weight at the 32 week ultrasound (4 1/2 lbs) and the fact that most babies gain roughly a 1/2 lb. a week until 37 weeks, they told me she should be about 7 lbs which they called "average". :) Curious to see how right they are!!

Ok my kids were #1 7lbs 5oz
#2 7lbs 9oz
#3 6lbs 11oz
#4 7lbs 7oz
#5 7lbs 5oz
#6 7lbs 13oz
#7 4lbs 10oz born at 33 weeks.
So those I think are average.

oh wow! All your kids were so close! Daydreams I will also be very curious if they are right!

My mom never out of the four of us had a baby under 8 lbs.. her 8 lb baby was her "small" one! I just wonder if anything has to do with genetics.. or because I was a BIG baby (9 lbs 3 oz) if it means I am more likely to have a big baby.. even though i am measuring average.. haha I guesss I will find out for sure in September

I was measuring spot on and my ds was born 7lbs 3 oz and as far as family history goes my mom gave birth to my brother who was 10lbs and I was 8lbs so it didn't really affect my sons size, oh and I also had diet controlled GD and my son was still small/average :)

Baby Natalie was 2 pounds 13 ounces at my 27 week 3 day ultrasound. They said she's in the 85-90th percentile. EEEK! She was measuring a week bigger in every other way.

I have large babies...
8 pounds 3 oz: 21 inches long,
7 pounds 14 ounces: 20.5 inches long (38 weeks gestation),
8 pounds 10 oz: 22 inches long.

Hope she's not my record breaker. We have another growth scan at 32 weeks because of her marginal cord insertion we will keep getting them. Midwives often say you can deliver a baby that is about your shoe size. I wear a 10 so I should be able to handle a 10 pounds. LOL

this is difficult to answer and depends on country of origin and healthcare professionals. i had babies 8lb 4.5 and 8lb2 my son was considered 50th centile when born and my daughter was 75th as they seem to think girls should weigh less. i was 7lb 13 at birth 26 years ago and this was classed as a large baby

Lurking

My last pregnancy, up till I delivered, they were expecting a 7lb baby. I gave birth to 9lb'er. Lol dh had to go home and bring back a 3 month outfit because the outfit I brought to the hospital was too small. she barely fit newborn diapers! So sometimes those growth scans can be wrong. ;)
Me 30 dh 38
DD1 7
DD2 2

At the hospital I work for, most babies that I see discharged (I'm a transcriptionist but don't always get assigned to the discharges) are between 6.5 pounds and 8.5 pounds with the vast majority in the 7-8 pound range. We're a smallish (400 or so births per year) rural hospital in northern Wisconsin (midwest USA for those in the UK, etc.).
Recently had our first child and have been married since October 6, 2006. I'm 27 and DH 29.

First pregnancy chemical, January 31, 2013.

Got our BFP on March 6, 2013. EDC November 11. Born November 11, 2013!
