I'm due March 12th with my 2nd. My daughter was born at 34 weeks, so They are pretty sure this one will me a preemie as well. I'm taking weekly progesterone injections to hopefully keep her in longer. I have a Chicco keyfit car seat and my husband picked out the diaper bag. He didn't want a purse looking one, he wanted manly one! Lol. We went to baby depot inside Burlington coat factory and got it on sale for $20!

Have you thought of any names yet?

Oh....I have a very outgoing woman dr. I LOVE her. I also see a male maternal fetal medicine specialist. I was seeing midwives, but since I have a very high risk pregnancy, we switched hospitals all together for their better neonatal unit.

Also, I don't think it's too late to switch as long as they are in the same practice. That way the dr has access to all ur records. U less you are having a scheduled c-section, you never kno what dr you might end up with.

Only men are in this practice the other guy is one of my get friends dads haha... So that's a heck no! Not sure about a c -section they said if she weighs over 8lbs I may not be able to deliver vaginally that kinda irritated me they would say that without letting me try. The whole birh Process scares me lol. I like the dr just really shy haha...(I'm weird)

Hubby would like something no so girlish I'm thinking a brown bag just not sure of the brand.

I have my next drs appointment the 14th I'll be 30wks.
What did you do about visitors I'm not sure I like the idea of everyone coming in right after I'm thinking after we have the baby calling people and giving is bonding time?

I think they should at least let you try to deliver vaginally. There are lots of woman who are able to deliver babies that big!

My husband picked a FILA brand diaper bag. Almost looks like a gym bag.

As for visitors, we didn't have to worry the first night since she was born unexpectedly at 9:18 pm. But the next day we did get some visitors. I didn't mind. I think the best thing to do is have ppl wait and see how you feel. You may be exhausted and just want bonding time. My daughter was in the NICU the whole time and never in my room, so I'm sure that made a difference.

Oh....I don't think I would want my friends dad as a dr either! Lol

Also when do they start checking you (cervix) ? I don't mind visitors but I would like to maybe take a shower and clean up a bit do they let you do that? I wanna try natural but I dunno if I'll be able to handle the pain esp since I hate paps they hurt well that little spectrum doe anyway.

I think you totally won't care once you are in labour... could be several people in the room, usually whoever happens to be on call, not necessarily your own doctor. Just tell yourself it is definitely not anything the doc hasn't seen before and they likely don't even think about it... even if you get your friend don't panic, you might find it comforting to see a familiar face. You don't have to get checked at all - many docs don't do this at the weekly appointments.

We ended up having a section and it was with a male doc, not the female we had grown close to over the 9mo... we really didn't mind in the end. Most of your time is spent with nurses, likely females. You will love whoever gets that baby out of you, lol.

I'm not due March, but Feb, but I wanted to let you know that in terms of visitors...if you write out a birth plan you can state specify who can come see you in your room. At my hospital, all visitors have to buzz to be let in. They must provide the patient they are there to see (you) and their name. Their name gets checked against your list if you have one. If you think you may have all kinds of people stopping by, you know, it may be a good way to keep all but your closest friends and family from dropping in unexpectedly.

They don't start checking your cervix until way late. I am at 34 today and still have not had my cervix checked on a routine visit. I had one check when I went to the ER for a false labor scare, but otherwise nothing. Depends on your practitioner, but, for the most part they leave you alone until right at the end unless you start giving some warning signs of pre-term labor.

Don't worry about how big your baby will be just yet. There's no way to tell. But, for the record, I was 8lbs 15oz and I was delivered completely naturally. It is entirely possible. One thing I would suggest is that you look into alternative birthing positions. Squatting, for example, will help your pelvic bones spread and give your baby a little extra room to get outta there. You probably would not be able to squat if you have too many pain meds, though, so that is something to consider.

You can do other things to prepare for a natural delivery that help you and your partner deal with the pain -- there are all sorts of options like hypnobirthing, Bradley Method, etc. etc. If you're truly interested in natural birth, do a little research and reading. There may also be classes near by to where you live that cover natural birth and coping techniques. You'll need to do some practice exercises before birth, though. You cannot just read and then expect to remember the techniques or use them properly without preparing. So the sooner you start to do that, the better.

GOOD LUCK! :)

Thanks gonzo we have actually thought about getting a Dula also :) so it may not be as awkward.

After birth how long do you have to have a catheter if you get one? Also do most people take a enema?

I went in for my 34 week checkup and ended up going into labor on the way there. They don't start checking until I think around 36 weeks unless they have a good reason to check.

I had a c-section, and I think I had my catheter for about a day. I was soooo thankful when that thing came out!!!

I'm so jealous that you haven't gained! I'm gaining rapidly. I'm thinking it's probably because I drink a lot of milk, and that packs on the lbs. I did the same thing with my daughter.

I'm being seen weekly now because of lots of pressure and contractions. Baby looks great and we are guessing I'll deliver around 36 weeks!

I'm also feeling her move WAY more than I have during any of this pregnancy!

Hi ladies I'm still going every two weeks I'll start weekly after my next two week appointment. How bad do cervix checks hurt? Also my drs nurse thinks he's going to check me every week ummm that can't be healthy and she made a big deal about it like " don't you wanna know how your baby's progressing"? Well yes but you can stay cms for weeks so annoyed with her! Can I deny weekly and say every two weeks?? I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow!

I'm 35 weeks and have only been checked once by the OB and that was because I was contracting. I don't think my OB starts till around 37 weeks for cervical checks.

I am now having special ultrasounds twice a week due to her not moving much for them last week. I hate to say it but I'm just ready for her to be out. I never know if she's still doing ok in there, and I feel like I'd feel safer if she was just out!!
