Stall in early labor...or....?

Postby Gonzo1 » Sun Feb 09, 2014 8:03 am

Ladies, I could use some insight. Last night I had 5 hours of painful contractions. They were short, 20-40 sec in length and came every 2.5-5 minutes. It felt like menstrual cramps on steroids, and although they didn't get longer they definitely got stronger. Also had a little nausea and pain in my inner thighs during the worst of it. Textbook labor pain! I really thought I was getting going but then...it just stopped...

Could this be stalled early labor or just more pre-game? What do you think? Definitely going on a long walk today and bouncing around on my birth ball either way!

Sounds like pregame to me. Very close though :) Real contractions will last a minute or longer once you're in actual labor. Prodromal labor can go on for a week or more and can feel very much like the real deal. If you ever wonder though never feel silly to just go in and see whats going on.

armywife, did you have prodromal labor? Each round (I've had 4 episodes now) has been getting more painful for me. I am guessing that's a good thing and indicates labor coming soon but was wondering what your experience was. Thanks!

Yes, I had prodromal labor with my last 2 pregnancies. The first time it lasted about 2-3 wks before the real thing hit. The second time only about a week. I was wondering if you've had your baby as I see you're 41 wks now. The good thing about prodromal labor is it does help with thinning of the cervix etc so that the actual labor isn't as long.
