Feedings and Reflux xposted

Hi Ladies,

Feedings have been a bit challenging for me the last couple weeks. I was unable to BF because I didn't have enough Milk and I was starving my baby. I started her on Enfamil Premium and pumping BM as much as I could. Strated at 2oz and found my baby was still fussy and crying so I started her on 3oz and then she stated spitting up a lot and vomitted a few times. I had restless nights she would cry and would night sleep more than 1hour during the night. At her appt she weighed in and gained a whole 1lb. Pedi said she has reflex had me swtch to Enfamil Prosobee and suggested I add 1 tablespoon of Cereal to her bottle at nightime feedings to help with the refulx. I found this to be helpful for about a week no spitting up and feeding about 2-3 hours. Then found she was still hungry after 2oz so up 3oz then in the last 2 days she started hating the cereal and chicking on it! 8O And also spitting up again. I stopped the cereal and she slepped a good 4 hours last night but she still spits up.

Any help?? How much and how often are ur babies eating? any other babies w/reflux? TIA!

Brecken has reflux he starts his Zantac tomorrow after his upper G.I. appt., our ped. told us to try AR Lipil (it has the rice in it already) but Brecken is allergic to almost every formula (the cows milk) and now on Alimentum and we are having to do to 1tsp of cereal to every oz, he takes 4oz so he gets 4tsp of cereal which he still spits up, but nothing like he was doing...I'd ask about the AR Lipil

My baby has reflux too and did the same thing yours did. He would be fine on a formula change for about a week and start back up again. After trying 5 different formulas (including soy) we went to Nutramigen (with rice cereal added and Zantac) and it has definitely helped with the fussiness and spitting up. It's expensive but, so worth it. It didn't cure it (the dr. said it wouldnt) but, it does help ease some of the pain and upset he has due to it. We also keep him proped up after eating which has helped too. Good luck finding something that will work for you!

Rowan has reflux, and the doctor put her on zantac, ever since then she's been a new baby! Less fussy, sleeping better all and all a happier baby. She eats every 3 to 3.5 hours 4 oz. I breast feed, and fill in with gentle enfamil formula.

We just started her on Enfamil AR and if that doesn't work def going back to her Pedi for some Zantac

Owen has reflux too. I don't want to medicate him unless I have to, so I am trying different things. I have oversupply and overactive letdown, so I'm doing positioning and block nursing. Plus I only nurse him on one side for 7 minutes at a time and he goes 1.5 to 3.5 hrs between feedings without being hungry and he's over 12 lbs at 8 weeks old. He hasn't vomited in a week now and is spitting up less so sometimes one outfit actually lasts a whole day, whereas before we were going through at least 5 and sometimes up to 8-9! Craziness. I also bought a nap nanny, which just arrived today. I'm going to try putting him to sleep in it overnight.

hi: mspretty! adorable pics! :)

I was curious how you tell if your baby has reflux or just spits up a lot? Is spitting up normal? DD seems somewhat colicky and has been spitting up more over the last few weeks. How much is normal? Sometimes is "curdy" and sometimes just milk (like being full from a feeding).
