best birth control PP

Postby jadie_f » Mon Nov 16, 2009 11:32 am

I know this was touched on on a different thread, but I was wondering what everyone is doing for birth control. I was planning on having the non-hormonal IUD placed 7 weeks PP. I dont like hormones and would like to TTC again in about 2-3 years, but def dont want any surprises before then. Prior to making Dilena, we used rhythm method, but then again I didnt really mind if I got preg. Now I do. all spermicides burn and irritate me, and condoms suck and they are expensive (and again if they have spermicide I cant use them). IUD scare me though, no reason, I just get nervous about having something foreign in my body for several years, but I still think its the way to go for me. Long rant, sorry, i just have a bit of coffee. ANyone ever have an IUD, experiences, anyone have the non-hormonal one, para-something? I think thats what I want

I have the non-hormonal IUD - the paraguard.

I really like it.

I agree that hormones are evil! Never again!

I had the Mirena for 5 years. It is hormonal, but it only has estrogen. I had not problems with it. I spotted for about 1 week and for the next 3 months AF was very very light. After 3 months AF stopped completely until I had the IUD for 4.5 years then I started spotting 1 day every month. My doc said that was the hormones running out and that half day of spotting was my AF since it came about every 30 days.

AM Have you looked into Essure. Its suppose to be a pretty good alternative to getting your tubes tied. Most of the women I know who have it speak very highly of it.

Essure is permanent. My sis just had it done. She is 46 and is not planning on anymore kids. They put a spring type device in your fallopian tubes and your body builds scare tissue around the springs preventing the egg from getting through.

I will just be using condoms/cycle tracking/pull and pray. I don't want anything hormonal, as we want 1 or 2 more kids down the road and we are really fertile so I don't want to mess that up. I wish there were a better non hormonal option... I don't like how the non-hormonal iuds work since they don't prevent an egg from being fertilized, just from implanting. So condoms it is !!!! I am a little nervous though because I can see an oopsie happening before we are ready ! :?

Its what I wanted but my base doesn't do it. I have a good friend that had it about 2 years ago and told me it was the best thing she ever did. Didn't have any issues healing and didn't have any issues actually getting it in.
