nighttime sleep

Fourth you ask? Your body is still full of pregnancy hormones as you adjust to life sleep-deprived with your new baby outside your womb.

nighttime sleep

Postby kuetoo73 » Tue Jan 19, 2010 11:45 am

Ladies, I'm the proud mother of a 3-month-old and looking for some sleep advice. The current trend is baby goes to sleep at 9pm, wakes around 1am for a full feeding (5-6 ounces), and then again for a smaller feeding at 4am (2 ounces.) He then wakes up around 7am, but not crying for food - today I walked in and he was watching cartoons with DH! I'd love to eliminate this 4am feeding because it feels more habitual than necessary. Any advice?

Thanks!

Is your baby FF or BF? That could make a difference.

I am having the same issues with my 3.5mo daughter. And it is the exact same bedtime and wake times I am getting out of her. I can handle one feeding per night but two is driving me crazy. I work full time and I can hardly function. The last 2 nights she has slept from 9 until 4, eats, and is back up at 7 for the day. This is OK with me but the last 3 weeks has been horrible.
So thanks for asking this. Hopefully we will get some advice.
I don't want to start the whole cereal debate here but my ped. told me last week to start giving her rice cereal at night since she is drinking 36oz of BM per day and still seems hungry in the middle of the night. I have for the past 5 nights but who knows if it's helping or not.

Cameron is 3.5 months too and FF but he gets up every 2 hrs usually 12, 2, 4, and 6. Thankfully I am a SAHM so I can nap with him sometimes during the day but I would love any advice on sleep!!

Funny, I asked my ped about mixing cereal in the formula and she said it doesn't work! I honestly don't think I would have done it anyway - feels like trickery to me and I'm not sure his little stomach is ready for cereal - but I'm also not sure if I believe her. Seems perfectly logical to me!

I would think you can drop that 2oz feeding. Maybe rather than giving him the bottle, just comfort him some and try to put him back down?

Oh and cereal is NOT good for them now. Follow your instincts. They're tummy doesn't handle that stuff well til after 6m. IDK why pedis keep giving that info out :(

Do you think bub might be going through a growth spurt? This might explain the frequent waking thorughout the night.
