Questions about recovering from c-section

Postby jodilynn » Sun Jan 24, 2010 5:22 am

A week and a half ago I had a c-section and now Im a bit worried about my recovery. I was told that the first few days I should bleed red but after that the color should change to a brown and then a yellow-white-ish color. Also that once brown or yellow I shouldnt go back to bright red. Well, now I have been. It goes back daily, sometimes more then once a day too. Also when I pee sometimes it hurts near the end. It almost feels like the first time I peed after they took out my cathetor. Are these things normal or should I call my OB?

TIA! :D

the bleeding thing is normal - same thing happened after my csection - that can go on for weeks. I'd even be completely dry for a few days (no mucus no bleeding, nothing - think I was in the clear and whammo! bright red blood all over again. It can take awhile for all of the blood to get out as your uterus contracts.

As for the hurting to pee - I would ask your ob about that. you might have gotten a UTI or something. better to be safe than sorry!

Lots of bright red after it had tapered off can be a sign of re-opening the wound where the placenta had been attached. One week out I think that's still pretty normal, but if it really gushes then you should get help. And take it easy, no heavy lifting, those baskets of laundry can wait. And if your instincts ever niggle at something not being right, see your doctor, or at least try calling a health hotline

Iam still having on and off bleeding. every time I bring it up I get told if I don't have a fever then its ok. Its certaintly Annoying to say the least. like PP said if you feel like something isn't right then definitely talk to the doc about it.

I got a UTI after my c-section probably like after a week or so. That could be the culprit for the ouchie PP

I experienced both after my c/s. I would watch for a fever for sure. Also, as far as peeing goes, if that pain doesn't go away in a day or two, I'd call my OB. I know after my c/s I wasn't able to tell if I needed to pee or not. I had to set an alarm to remind me to try to pee every 2 hours.
