feminine products for pp?

Postby KimmyH » Mon Feb 08, 2010 7:32 pm

What are your recommendations for those super maxis for the first days pp? I am being induced on sunday due to PreE and I need to send poor DH on a walmart run to buy me what I need since I am stuck on bed rest. I am not a pad wearer typically, so all I know which are good but have heard the hospital ones are not so good. Also, should I have him pick up some cheap granny panties too so I don''t bleed all over my nice undies or is that overkill? Any other things I should have him pick up while he is on this embarassing feminine hygeine run? TIA! I look forward to joining you ladies next week!

Thank you Nikki! Your baby girl is beautiful! Any favorite brand/type? DH needs specific instructions (I can't imagine him browsing the maxi pad aisle  ).

Tell him to get some Depends. Yes, the bladder control thing..and the full undies not the pads. You will feel so much more protected for those first days.

After that I agree Always with wings. Here's a link to the specific style that I like.

As for the BM...I literally just let gravity do ALL the work. It took about three days for me to have one..and I started stool softeners the day after J was born. I didn't have one in the hospital but within an hour of arriving home I did. Nothing like the comfort of your own house right? LOL

Honestly though..everyone talks about how horrible that first BM was..and I didn't find it awful. It wasn't a walk in the park..but like I said..DO NOT use your muscles..in any way. Your body will naturally push it out and gravity will do a lot of the work. I am still doing this now..even though I am sure I could push a bit with no problem.

I always use Always with wings, Supers  I have never had baldder control issues so I don't know about the depends, but I would definitley have your DH pick you up some granny panties so you don't stain your good undies.

Oh and witch hazel is very soothing on stitches, might want to pick up a bottle in case you get a few!!!

It was YOU that I learned the Depends thing from AM. Saved my life last week I tell ya!

And yep..if you need stitches from a tear tucks and 1% cotizone cream are sent from heaven. I got my first couple batches right in the hospital.

I used Equate Overnight w/ wings. After I left the hospital, my bleeding slowed down significantly.
I had my first BM the morning after I gave birth. It was heavenly!!! I don't think an orgasm ever felt so good

Ditto on the Always with wings in above link :D I had bladder issues too, but these also seemed to hold it just long enough to get to the bathroom (obviously I wasnt out anywhere  )

I LOVED the hosptial stretch panties they give you. According to our PP nurses the are the hospitals "best kept secret" They are made of a stretchy soft nylon?? and fit sort of like a "boy short" panty, but cover more I actually washed them and wore them for at least a month PP!
