DTD for the first time... what was it like

DTD for the first time... what was it like

Postby babyhelstrup » Fri Feb 26, 2010 11:04 am

2 more weeks and I will go to my 6 wk pp visit. I hope to get the go a head for DTD... I am actually looking forward to it as I really miss the closeness/ passioin that we had before. But I am worried about how it will feel. Many have told me that it really hurts and that the first time or couple you just have to do it to get it over with..

So why does it hurt..? Is it bc the lady parts are tender from birth? Or that things "closed" up more and it is like the "first" time again.... I am actually worried that things will be looser then before and making sex not as appealing any more.

Hopefully, someone will come by and say that mountains moved for them lol.

I know this isn't recommended, but this was my scenario.

We tried 3 almost 4 wks pp. I didn't feel stitches on the outside, but apparently had them on the inside. We DTD and it felt great. TMI, we weren't all that gentle either. Ended up ripping a stitch. Didn't hurt.

Next time was 6 1/2 pp. It hurt like hell!

To this day it's still sore where I was cut, but that's the only part that hurts. When I told DH it hurt sometimes he wanted a good look to see exactly what part hurt. So when I told him where to look he knew and as been gentle. Maybe another TMI but it might help you... the angle of going in is what hurts me. If there's pressure on the skin that was cut it hurts, but if he goes in at a different angle it doesn't.

GL, I'm sure it will be great. Don't psych yourself out. Take it slow and use lots of lube!

ETA: I was worried about the "hotdog down the hallway" situation myself. Told DH he could be completely honest with me about it because if it was loose I would do kegels to make it better. He told me (3-4pp) that it didn't feel any different.

So far we've done it about 6 times since (i didnt start until 6 weeks pp cuz i didnt want to risk infection or reopen stitches) and it still hurts. It gets better every time but it still feels much tighter than it did before baby.

we've DTD several times too. And as one of the PP said, its all about the angle for us too. TMI but rear entry hurts more than missionary. I only had a 1st degree tear and when we dtd 3 or 4 weeks postpartum it was sore where I tore. But other than that it felt good and was nice to be close to my DH again! I think it gets better and better each time! Last week I got up the courage to be on top and OMG, that felt great, not sure why I didn't do it sooner after childbirth. It helped that I could totally control what was going on :)

Great. Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. I am looking forward to it. Not sure that DH is though.. Bummed that we will have to use a condom at first (i think). Still figureing out the whole IUD thing and weather to get it now or wait a little bit (dont want to effect milk supply) But that is a whole nother topic.

We DTD today for the first time and it was a bit weird at first, I was super tight and closed up so it made it hard to enter but we took it slow. I was able to orgasm which made me happy :P the worse part was not having the closeness of before when we didn't bother with protection.. blah

im not lookin forward to DTD, not because it'll hurt i'm quite sure it won't, i had a vaginal birth w/o stitches and DTD last time at only 4 wks post partum but not ready for that yet, not even at 6 i think lol, just cause of my fear that it has changed (i do this everytime but last time i had some wine and got horney hence the 4 wk bd, lol), so.....im sure its all still well down there but i want a few more weeks of kegals lol, and i also miss the passion and closeness, cant wait for that part and just getting passed the 1st time

xoxo

i had a 2nd-3rd degree laceration with my DD and was really sore for a couple months pp so DTD was out of the question for me. we finally DTD 3 months pp and it was uncomfortable (tight) but we used lots of lube and DH was very gentle. it gets better everytime now.

@sherry2010 - vaginal birth with no stitches and twins - way to go mama!! :P

@Wishingandwaitingnomore - i was worried about the hotdog in the hallway too! LOL - DH said it felt totally normal though.
