Rash or Baby ache

Postby babyhelstrup » Sun Mar 07, 2010 11:07 am

At first it was on her cheaks and I asked the Dr at her 1 month visit and she said it was baby ache. It has since grown to her shoulders and a little on the center of her chest (abt the place where you buttone/ zip her clothes. She does not seem bothered by it at all but wondering how I can tell the difference. There are no white heads just little bumps. And not really red. Just skin colored bumps....

And not sure if it could be allergies... My mom has cats (DH is allergic to them) We have spent time there but much more over the past few days. Could she be sick (congested nose, kinda watery eyes and sneezing) or allergic to cats.. We have dogs and she is fine... And she still sneezes even once we come home.... But she is still in good spirts...

We have not tried anything yet. My mom mentioned washing her clothes seperate and without fabric softner. She has been fine for the last month and just in the last week it popped up. Neither of us have sensitive skin so we did not think that she would either.. But who knows....

the skin condition does sound like baby acne....it will start to come down onto the chest before it goes away....starts around 3-4 wks of life generally and clears up in a few weeks usually, but there ARE children that it can linger for a few months. cetaphil works very well in helping to clear it up....

the cleanser that you don't have to rinse off all the way....i usually leave a little residue of the cleanser on.

my DD had baby acne and i started to get nervous when it spread to her neck/chest cuz i thought it was a rash but it wasn't ... it was just baby acne. turns out she didn't have it as bad as some other LO's get it ... if you Google 'baby acne' pics you'll be surprised. it does go away fairly quickly though - a few weeks. i never put any special cream/lotion on it - just bathed her and lotioned her as normal.

yes sounds like baby acne! We didn't do much for it either other than put regular baby lotion on it.. seemed to be the only thing that cleared it up...

I give her a bath abt 1x a week, but wipe down important areas. Should i wipe her face area with a warm cloth inbetween? If I use cetiphil do i put it on her dry skin and wip off extra?
