pp bleeding question- tmi sorry!

Postby mschelsc » Tue Mar 16, 2010 9:22 am

I just had my little one a week ago today, and I'm noticing that my bleeding/discharge has a pretty nasty smell to it. Like it doesn't smell like a normal period smell. I know- tmi- I warned you!
Did anyone else experience this or should I be concerned and call my ob?

If it smells rotten it could be an infection. I would try to wash really good and change your pad often and see if you still notice it then. I noticed when I was almost done bleeding if I didn't change my pad for a couple of hours then the pad would smell really yucky. Gross I know!!!

The blood definitely smells weird and not like typical period blood, and doesnt necessariyl mean you have an infection (although you should def keep an eye on it). I aso found I had to change m y pad quite frequently to make sure to take care of the smell..gross but true. No one ever tells yo uthese things about pregnancy, right ? LOL

I experienced the same thing. It smelled awful and I thought I had an infection. My doc checked me out at my 2 week appointment and I was ok. It just kinda went away after a few weeks.

Thanks for the responses... mine ended up just going away too. It's true, they don't tell you these types of things about pregnancy!

Only time mine smelled was when I had an infection. IF you dont have anything else pointing to infection I wouldnt stress it.
