Postby Kristyn » Fri May 07, 2010 10:36 am

Hi there,

I have only changed girl diapers before and am about to have a boy so I'd love any tips you have, how to do it, what to do/not to do, what order to do things, any tips for uncircumcized, etc. please and thanks!!

PS: If you have girl diaper questions you can send them my way :)

I was the same way I have two little girls and this is my first boy but I will say it's really about the same you just have to get in the crevices lol but you have to do that with a girl to ;) My little guy hasn't been circumsized yet though because he was to small in the hospital so I don't have any advice on that. I think the one thing I have to remember is with my girls used to pinch the front of their diapers to make sure to see if they were wet well now I have to remember there is something there that I could accidentally pinch and hurt lol GL :)

All you have to do for uncirced boys is wipe the penis like a finger, do not pull back the foreskin in any way. You may get peed on, so keep a wipe or cloth diaper near by to throw over him if need be. Oh. and point the penis down when you change!

no advice for uncirc'd, mine is circ'd but I know his poop goes under neath his balls lol...so I make sure to lift it up and wipe real good and the folds of his legs. Hey I got peed on countless amount of times but you get better with experience. Now I'm better and faster. I usually put the new diaper under the old, slide the old out, cover up his parts with the new one until I can get his a & d out the tube (that's what I use for diaper rash prevention) grease him up then finish.....

just don't let his parts be exposed to air too too long you may have a warm surprise shoot on your leg LMAO

LOL Ashley.

Like Ashley said little boys like to pee when their stuff is exposed to air...so I usually open the diaper wait a bit and then cover it back up just in case. I have only been peed on a couple times :)

Until my niece was born a year ago I had only babysat boys and only had nephews. I had to learn the opposite! lol

Make sure you keep the front of the diaper covering his penis until the very last minute and keep his penis pointing downwards. That's all I can remember from all my nephews!

At the store the other day I saw tiny cloth tippies. It said "Pee-pee Tippy for the Sprinkling Wee-wee"! Too cute!

Has anyone actually used these pee pee tepees? They sound kitchy and not something that would be actually used. Seems like a diaper or burp rag or wipe would do the exact same thing for a lot less dough?

I've always thought of them more of a novelty that people give to you as a joke shower gift. A really thick washcloth works the best IMO.

When the pee starts going, they fly right off. Like you said, anything is better and cheaper.

I just used a little face cloth to cover his wee wee while changing him.
I'll put all of my suggestions here (some have been mentioned already :))
1) It doesn't matter what you use... face cloth, diaper, burp cloth... just cover it up. Or you WILL get peed on.
2) Don't be afraid of being too "rough" around the testies... if you have to wipe a little harder to get the poop off, you won't hurt him. (DH told me this. LOL!!!)
3) When putting the diaper back on, point the penis down. Otherwise the pee goes up, and the diaper is rendered pointless. :)

And make sure the penis isn't pointed to the side either!!!! My boy hasn't peed on me yet but he has peed out his diaper side a lot!!

I agree with all the Previous posters. I think the best tip is to make sure you get the parts covered up as quickly as possible, lol. Oh and the "pee pee tee pees" dont work at all! They cover the penis but if your little guy moves around or pees, they fly right off. Just use a washcloth like the PP said. :)

Hehe, this brings back memories of my first boy (my 2nd baby) Every time I changed him in the hospital he peed all over me no matter how fast I moved. I finally asked the nurse (who was a grandmotherly type) can you please tell me how to change a boy. She said same thing, cover it up as soon as you can and keep it covered.....

I think they are easier to change then girls since bowel movements don't get in all the vaginal creases like they do with girls plus there is not the concern like you have with girls of fecal matter getting into the urethra and causing a UTI. IDK though, my sons seem to be very sensitive and hate having their testicles cleaned, so that can be a battle.
