Delaney's took about 2 weeks and is perfect.
Remington's was taken off immediately after birth and his is perfect also, even with a PICC line being in it for 2 weeks.

Are you cleaning with alcohol all the way around? With D, a Qtip soaked in rubbing alcohol worked better than the pads they sent us home with. That way you can really work the alcohol into the crevices.

Each of my babies was different. DD's (my first) fell off almost as soon as she was home, but she was in NICU for 14 days prior to coming home so it was probably around 2 1/2 weeks that it feel off.

2nd babies did not fall off and it was getting stinky around 3 weeks even though I cleaned it every day. The doctor put silver nitrate on it and that dryed it up and it fell off several days later.

3rd baby fell off around 3 1/2 to 4 weeks, but he did not suffer the stinky belly button syndrome (as I jokingly called it) that my 2nd son had.

DS fell off a little after 2 weeks. It didn't smell or leave anything behind, I also didn't do anything to it but clean it with water.

Jacob's came off a couple days after 3 weeks. Kind of funny because DH said he wouldn't go near it, and it fell off while I was getting him dressed and ready to go get him off the bus!

Oh, and it didn't do anything weird. I swabbed the area around it with alcohol wipes a couple times a day.

DD's came off at around 5 or 6 days, if I remember correctly...we did the alcohol thing with hers. DS's fell off on day 3...didn't use anything on it!
