Milk won't go away!!

Postby amy2009 » Fri Jun 18, 2010 1:48 pm

I have been trying to stop my milk production for a week now. Levi gets sick from my milk so I'm stopping. I hve weaned from pumping and have even gone a couple days without pumping now and started getting a fever so I got antibiotics from the doc for mastitis but caught itvearly enough I didn't get super sick like I did when I had DD. My breasts still leak and last night (tmi) in the shower I expressed milk with like a couple pumps and it sprayed as if I was still bfding. Why is it not drying up?? What can I do to make it dry up and how long does it take?

I took me about three weeks to stop leaking. I had to stop suddenly and quickly because of an allergy problem. It was awful the first week, but they started to get less sore and leak less after about a week and a half.

I could still get milk for a good month after I stopped pumping. My friend who BF's says when she weans, she drinks tea with echinacea in it and that herb helps dry up milk. HTH!

I stopped a week ago, still leaking but just a little. Try cabbage. I used it in my bra overnight, it really works, dunno why but it does, I was in major pain and it took the pain away over night and definately less leaking since I started using it.

1. Do not let hot water run on your boobs.
2. Do not express milk, because your body thinks it will need to be replaced.
3. Wear pads and let it dry up naturally. Should happen quickly if you leave them alone.
4. God Luck!
