Ouch Beegee!! I'm really surprised they didn't numb you with lidocane or something when stitching. That almost sounds cruel. Sorry you had to endure that.

1.) ABOUT THE ACTUAL BIRTH--- DID YOU HAVE MEDS OR GO NATURAL. EITHER WAY: ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE CHOICE YOU MADE?

my plan has always been going natural, but then we ran into a hurdle of our baby being really big. what the doc was trying to do was jump start labor before i got to big. When our baby girl decided to come into the world, we ran into risks of her getting stuck and suffer nerve damage(which was something i didn't want). The doc says they wouldn't know if that will happen TIL it actually happens. So i opped for a primary c-section. Yes, i'm happy with the choice i made as all i honestly cared about was making sure baby came out healthy.

2.) MAYBE A LITTLE TMI BUT DID YOU DO PERINEUM MASSAGE BEFORE LABOR AND IF SO DID IT HELP WITH NOT TEARING?

no, i didn't do the perineum massage. i didn't do it with pregnancy #2 nor #1 but i did experiencing tearing in my first pregnancy(first time EVER in my life to get stitches).

1. I did my first 2 with no pain meds... no regrets. 4th I got an epi after my dilation stalled at 6cm for a couple hours... no regrets. baby number 5 I decided to just get the epi when labor was on a roll... I never actually had the chance to feel any contractions before I received my epi at 5 cm.. they were actually painless... I do regret getting the epi that time, I didn't want a repeat of the last labor so I figured I'd just get it right away and now I'm left wondering if I would have even needed it... especially after going natural for the first 3.

2. No massages

1. I managed to 7cms without any meds (apart from gas and air from 5cms) but my baby was back to back and I had been in early labour for about 36hours without much sleep and I was just so tired I asked for the epi. But I was one of those unlucky ladies where it didn’t work. It numbed the pain for about 45minutes on/off but then I could feel everything. I even felt the midwife putting in my catheter.... 8O but in the end I new when to push and even though I was strapped to the bed and unable to move around and I could feel the "ring of fire" it was still an amazing birthing experience and I wouldn’t change a thing. Me and my Df even high fived after the birth it went so well. But next time I wont be opting for an epi!

2. I read about this and was considering doing it but like many other things I never got round to it. I had a second degree tear from where the midwife turned my baby as she was coming out and I had 5 stitches but it wasn’t so bad. I say try it and see if it helps, you never know it might!

I had my much wanted VBAC this time.. I did suck on a little oxygen and gas, when i was about 8cm, but nothing else.. so almost drug free i guess??..lol

I had to have an episitomy again, I thought I would, I had one 10 years ago with my dd... She had to do it pain med free though as she didnt have time for the local needles until after S was born (HR dropped alot)..

i LOVED LOVED LOVED my birth..

this was our last, after so many losses, BUT if i was in a position to go again, id definitely have another natural delivery.. :)

I was induced, at 39w with ONLY pitocin. They claimed my cervix had been 'ripe' for like 2 weeks. I was one centimenter upon arrival at 3:00 pm, and by the time they gave me the pitocin at 7pm I was still 1cm. My water broke at 4am on it's own, and shortly after I dialated to a 3. I stayed a 3 untill the next day at 12:00pm.... I delivered my daughter at 1:30pm VAGINALLY... I went from 3 to 10 in ONE HOUR.
OH... I got an epidural when my water broke cause I had been in 'labor' for 10 hours and I couldn't take the pain anymore and I wasn't dialated enough to even get it. Hence the SLOW dialation, and then super speedy at the end (prayers baby!)

I totally completley WISH I had done the massage.... The doctor that delivered me spent 45 minutes sewing me back up!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT was the worse pain of my life.. not the sewing but the aftermath. I am DREADING having another baby naturally lol. And even with my daughter being 5lb 12oz... and her head being 12 inches! I ripped THAT bad. Although she was out in 3 pushes...LOL maybe that had something to do with it. I wont push so hard this time!

ETA: I had 3 shots of demerol before my epi.... no regrets on the epi, although to this day I still get electrical feelings shooting around in my back. AND I HATED my birth! But it was scenery for me. Horrible small room, and then an original surgery type area with everyone gowned for the birth in an actual c section room. bed was extremely uncomfy.. Labored in a labor room. Delivered in a delivery room. I'm so excited to be going to a hospital this time that has NICE L&D suites!

I went for no drugs, but due to DS turning and me pushing at 8cm and being unable to control that urge, I ended up having a spinal (epidural didn't take) since the injection of meds didn't help, but delivered with only gas and air and was on gas and air throughout labor. I would rather have not had that happen as I had planned to deliver with only gas and air in the birthing pool, but circumstances couldn't be helped. My biggest regret is that DH didn't get to catch our little guy, nor was he able to cut the cord...but tht can't be helped either.

Delivering without pain meds reeeaaaally hurt (and having a 2nd degree tear as well didn't help!), but I'd do it again!

I had a natural birth with DD, but did get local antisthetic at the very end while pushing, which I guess was a good thing as I ended up with a 4th degree tear and didn't feel it. He added more local antisthetic when he stitched me up and I could still feel the stitching, 45 minutes of stitching and it was horrible, like tons of little pinches down there over and over!

I did not do pereneal massage but am going to do it this time (I know, running out of time, starting tonight!) because I really don't want to tear like that this time. It took me a year to recover from the tear last time, due to scar tissue that caused residual pain.

All-natural labor & delivery, no epidural or meds of any kind, and completely "hands off" (except for 3 cervical checks). I'm EXTREMELY happy with the choice I made and plan to do it again next time!

I had what my delivering midwife called a "minor 2nd degree tear" which required 2 stitches. I did not do any sort of perineal massage during my pregnancy, but the delivery nurse massaged my perineum with oil while DD was crowning. I'm going to massage myself during my next pregnancy, though, in hopes of avoiding a tear altogether.

I had meds and wouldn't change any decision I made. I had pain meds before my epi and after when it wore off.

I didn't do any type of perineal massage but while I pushing my nurse did..
I didn't know and my BF later told me everything they did down there and I had to explkain what she was doing.. LOL! Silly men..
I had a small 2nd degree tear which required only 1 stitch and thaat was because his shoulders had gotten stuck.
