Anyone have pain from...

Postby lami » Sat Oct 30, 2010 10:47 am

removing a catheter? I had a c-section so I had a catheter for 2 days in the hospital. Im now 13 days PP but still have pain/burning in that area, which didnt start until a few days after the cath removal. My OB did a UA and I do not have an infection, so I am wondering when this sensation goes away? I guess sometimes the cath can bruise the area?

I had a cath for the day of and the day after my CS and it was kinda nice to not have to get up and pee a million times in the night hehe (not that I could get up for that time anyways).
I felt nothing, it was inserted after the epi and i felt nothing when they took it out. You poor thing.

Are you sure you didn't get a UTI from it?? Keep an eye on the discomfort, because they can cause UTI.

I had an epi and it burned like the dickens to pee for a good 3 weeks. I was checked for a UTI and even took antibiotics as a precaution and it still didn't make it go away.

I ended up having to be cath'd three different times and the final one was in for like 2 days...and it didn't feel uncomfortable until like a week after it was removed...called the doc and went for a UA and they gave me antibiotics before it was done (it was a fri at 4pm) and it went away a few days later thanks to the meds

I have had 2 c-sections. The first time my OB told me she nicked my bladder to get to the baby. I had pain for about a week and a half when I urinated behind that one. My cath removal the both times caused no problems.

Im glad Im not the only one who experienced something weird with the cath.
laureen- I def did not have an infection as I had the UA which was negative and the pain went away after a week or so. I must have just had delayed trauma or something?
waiting for peanut- I also had hemmoraging..wonder if that makes a difference?[/quote]

I had the burning sensation too from the catheter. I'm thinking it was a couple weeks before it went away? I asked my OB about it about my PP check-up. She said its pretty normal. She said she had a c-section herself and had a cath and felt the same thing.
